June 10, 2015 Dear Friends: The Hamilton Health Sciences
June 10, 2015 Dear Friends: The Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation is pleased to announce that the 8th annual Christopher & Filipe Cadete Memorial Golf Tournament will be held at Chippewa Creek Golf Course in support of McMaster Children’s Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit on Sunday, September 20. We continue to be extremely thankful for the leadership and hard work that is invested by the Cadete Family in this undertaking each year. McMaster Children’s Hospital is one of Canada’s leading pediatric health care facilities and is the regional referral centre for children who are seriously ill, injured or require specialized services in Hamilton and across south-central Ontario. Our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit continues to be the largest of its kind in Ontario, providing care for more than 1,000 premature babies each year. We are also proud to announce that the construction continues on the new Ron Joyce Children’s Health Centre, which is scheduled to open across from Hamilton General Hospital this fall. This new facility will house all of our specialized outpatient services that currently operate at our Chedoke campus, including autism, developmental pediatrics & rehabilitation, mental health and prosthetics & orthotics. It will provide services for more than 70,000 patient visits annually and exist as the only Centre of its kind in Canada. Community support is essential to our hospitals. While the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care continues to support capital projects, they do not provide any funds for the equipment needs of the hospitals. Therefore, we must rely on the generosity of the community to ensure that our health care teams possess the necessary tools in order to provide optimal care for our patients. As a result, we are extremely grateful to all of the Christopher & Filipe Cadete Memorial Golf Tournament supporters for their continued generosity. On behalf of the McMaster Children’s Hospital Foundation, we appreciate your consideration and hope that you will choose to support this event as well!
