This will not impact upon the start and finish times of the school day but will see recess and lunch times moved to later time slots. The timetable will be as follows: 8:50-10:50am Sessions1 & 2 10:50-11:10am Recess 11:10-1:10pm Sessions 3 & 4 1:10-1:50pm Lunch 1:50-3:00pm Session 5 Some minor changes to lunchtime include year 3-6 students eating in the new assembly area and a siren sounding at 1:20pm to indicate that students can play. All students will be required to remain seated for the first 10 minutes, to eat their lunch. New P&C Executive for 2015 Congratulations to the new P&C Executive who were voted in at last week’s AGM. The results of the elections are listed under the P&C Notices at the back of this newsletter. I would like to sincerely thank Mrs Vesna End of Term One We have had a great start to the year with all students and Stacevic for her leadership as President of the P&C in 2014. Thank you for your passion to improve the well being of staff quickly settling into their routines in their new classrooms and we look forward to our end of term Easter students and for all of the hard work and organisation over the year. Assembly. The term also saw the development of our new Business Plan 2015-2017 with its endorsement at last nights School Board meeting. This will be printed and a copy will be sent home to all families and placed on the school website. Our key focus areas for 2015-2017 are: Literacy Numeracy Science Humanities (History and Geography) Pastoral Care Early Childhood Information Computer Technology. Crunch & Sip ® As mentioned in previous newsletters, classes will be trialling the Crunch & Sip ® program. Next term. Crunch & Sip ® is a set break to eat fruit or salad vegetables and drink water in the classroom. Students refuel with fruit or vegetables during the morning assisting physical and mental performance and concentration. Some of our classes are already doing the Crunch & Sip ® program with great success. For Crunch & Sip ®, parents will need to provide their children with: • an extra piece of fruit or salad vegetables to eat in the classroom packaged in a snap lock bag or small container, and This Business Plan will drive our strategic and operational • a water bottle planning for the next three years. We are confident that all Students will still need to bring food for recess. Crunch & students will benefit greatly from this plan. During this assembly we will with today’s newsletter. have our annual Easter bonnet parade. Students from PP-Year 6 are invited to make an Easter bonnet and participate in the parade. The P&C will also draw their Easter raffle. We look forward to seeing our school community there. Choir News The school choir will be performing next term at the ANZAC assembly on Friday 24th April. We have been practising "The Green Hills of Albany" and students have been given the words of the song to practise at home. A Youtube video of the song with music can be found on the internet if students wish to practise it at home. Choir practise will be on as usual this Thursday 2 April even though it is the last day of term and the same day as the Easter Assembly. Students will be released at 8.40am so they can prepare for the assembly. Choir students have also been given a Choir Commitment form to sign and return to the music room. This is to ensure students and parents understand the commitment required to be part of the school choir, especially since we will be participating in the WA Massed Choir Festival on Tuesday 1 September. Please write this date down in your diaries. More information regarding the festival will be given next term. If your child is unable to commit to choir for the remainder of the year, please fill in the bottom of the form and I will take their name off the list. ‘ANZAC' stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps. On the 25th of April 1915, Australian and New Zealand soldiers formed part of the allied expedition that set out to capture the Gallipoli peninsula. This year we commemorate 100 years of ANZAC spirit. This is a friendly reminder that all forms and money are now due. It is expected that all students will participate in this program as it forms part of the school’s curriculum and is reported on in Semester 1 reports. The cost per student this year is $24.85 and is payable to classroom teachers. Should you wish to arrange a payment plan, please contact the school office. P&C Hot Cross Bun Fundraiser Thank you also to the families who ordered hot cross buns. Hot cross buns have now been delivered and are available for collection from the canteen before 9.00am Thursday 2 April. AGM The P & C had their AGM on Thursday 26 May where Executive Committee members were voted in by ballot. We had a fantastic turn-out and thank you to everyone who came along!
