Time Changes
As mentioned in previous newsletters, the School Board has
agreed to changing in the school timetable from next term to
allow for two hour Literacy Blocks each day. This will not
impact upon the start and finish times of the school day but
will see recess and lunch times moved to later time slots.
The timetable will be as follows:
8:50-10:50am Sessions1 & 2
10:50-11:10am Recess
11:10-1:10pm Sessions 3 & 4
1:10-1:50pm Lunch
1:50-3:00pm Session 5
Some minor changes to lunchtime include year 3-6 students
eating in the new assembly area and a siren sounding at
1:20pm to indicate that students can play. All students will
be required to remain seated for the first 10 minutes, to eat
their lunch.
New P&C Executive for 2015
Congratulations to the new P&C Executive who were voted
in at last week’s AGM. The results of the elections are listed
under the P&C Notices at the back of this
newsletter. I would like to sincerely thank Mrs Vesna
End of Term One
We have had a great start to the year with all students and Stacevic for her leadership as President of the P&C in 2014.
Thank you for your passion to improve the well being of
staff quickly settling into their routines in their new
classrooms and we look forward to our end of term Easter students and for all of the hard work and organisation over
the year.
Assembly.
The term also saw the development of our new Business
Plan 2015-2017 with its endorsement at last nights School
Board meeting. This will be printed and a copy will be sent
home to all families and placed on the school website. Our
key focus areas for
2015-2017 are:
Literacy
Numeracy
Science
Humanities (History and Geography)
Pastoral Care
Early Childhood
Information Computer Technology.
Crunch & Sip ®
As mentioned in previous newsletters, classes will be
trialling the Crunch & Sip ® program. Next term. Crunch &
Sip ® is a set break to eat fruit or salad vegetables and drink
water in the
classroom. Students refuel with fruit or vegetables during the
morning assisting physical and mental performance and
concentration. Some of our classes are already doing the
Crunch & Sip ® program with great success.
For Crunch & Sip ®, parents will need to provide their
children with:
•
an extra piece of fruit or salad vegetables to eat in the
classroom packaged in a snap lock bag or small
container, and
This Business Plan will drive our strategic and operational •
a water bottle
planning for the next three years. We are confident that all Students will still need to bring food for recess. Crunch &
students will benefit greatly from this plan.
Sip does not replace fruit and vegetables eaten at lunch and
recess.
Easter Assembly
Tomorrow, Thursday 2 April, we will hold our

have our annual Easter bonnet parade. Students
from PP-Year 6 are invited to make an Easter
bonnet and participate in the parade. The P&C will also draw
their Easter raffle. We look forward to seeing our school
community there.
Choir News
The school choir will be performing
next term at the ANZAC assembly
on Friday 24th April. We have been practising "The Green
Hills of Albany" and students have been given the words of
the song to practise at home. A Youtube video of the song
with music can be found on the internet if students wish to
practise it at home. Choir practise will be on as usual this
Thursday 2 April even though it is the last day of term and
the same day as the Easter Assembly. Students will be
released at 8.40am so they can prepare for the assembly.
Choir students have also been given a Choir Commitment
form to sign and return to the music room. This is to ensure
students and parents understand the commitment required
to be part of the school choir, especially since we will be
participating in the WA Massed Choir Festival on
Tuesday 1 September. Please write this date down in your
diaries. More information regarding the festival will be given
next term. Visit the festival home page for more information.
of the festival on www.massedchoirfestival.org.au When
students have returned their signed forms they will receive
a CD of all the festival songs and a copy of the words so
they can listen to the songs before learning them next term.
If your child is unable to commit to choir for the remainder
of the year, please fill in the bottom of the form and I will
take their name off the list.
‘ANZAC' stands for Australian and New Zealand
Army Corps. On the 25th of April 1915, Australian and
New Zealand soldiers formed part of the allied expedition that set out to capture the Gallipoli
peninsula. This year we commemorate 100 years of
ANZAC spirit.
