Tristan Hopper is originally from Waterloo, Ontario and is currently a
Tristan Hopper is originally from Waterloo, Ontario and is currently a PhD student
at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta. His research interests include
engaging youth labeled “at-risk”, meaningful leisure engagement, mental
health/illness, deviant leisure and research methodologies. He has recently
completed his Masters degree at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Prior to ‘Dal’ Tristan completed his undergraduate degree at the University of
Waterloo and shortly after obtained his CTRS designation. He has presented on a
variety of topics at global, national and provincial conferences and has published
several articles in the field. Tristan is passionate about TR education in Canada –
recently being involved in developing a new TR program in Canada. Aside from
keeping up with current Therapeutic Recreation research and happenings, Tristan
enjoys running, hiking and exploring the growing restaurant scene in Edmonton.
Most importantly, Tristan enjoys spending time with his partner Ainsley and their
English Cocker Spaniel “Dory.”
