ISTE President’s Visit to
Chhotubhai Gopalbhai Patel Institute of Technology (CGPIT),
Uka Tarsadia University (UTU)
Hon. President of ISTE Prof. Pratapsinh Kakaso Desai visited the Uka Tarsadia University Campus on April
11, 2015 with Prof. K. M. Bhavsar (Chairman, ISTE - Gujarat Section), Prof. Nikul K. Patel (Secretary, ISTE Gujarat Section) Prof. Bharat Sheth (Executive Council Member, ISTE, New Delhi) and Prof. Jayesh Shah
(Executive Council Member, ISTE, New Delhi).
His visit included meeting with executive committee members of ISTE Faculty Chapter, ISTE Student
Chapter and other ISTE members of the institute. He also spared time to meet the management of UTU.
During his address, he shared statistics related to status of technical education in India. He rightly
pointed out the degradation of technical education and its impact on various sections of the society. He
also explained that teaching is very noble profession and it must be a job by choice and not by chance.
He explained that the impact of teaching can be over the entire generation and it cannot be corrected
once the damage is done. He emphasized on the fact that ISTE is for the betterment of the students and
technical education in India and is ready to support all the steps taken in the right direction. He
appreciated the efforts put in by ISTE Faculty/Student Chapters of CGPIT and wish that this chapter will
become one of the best chapters in near future.
