Library News:
Some new library shelves were installed
during the March Break and they look
fantastic! Over the next few years we hope
to continue to gradually replace all the
wooden shelves with professional metal
shelving. There have been many positive
comments from students about how much the
new shelving improves the appearance and
functionality of our
library.
Book Fair
A huge “Thank You!” to everyone who came to
visit our Scholastic Book Fair this
year. Chemong’s biggest sales total ever
means we will be able to purchase more than
$1600.00 worth of Scholastic books for the
school library. We could not have done it
without our wonderful parent volunteers Mr.
Taylor, Mrs. LeBlanc, Mr. and Mrs. Comtois
and our Teacher-Candidate Mrs. SimmsBrown.
Cops For Cancer
On April 30th, we will be welcoming the Pedal
for Hope team to Chemong!
We currently have over 20 students
fundraising to shave their head or cut their
ponytail for pediatric cancer. Our top
fundraiser this year will also win an IPAD
mini! We will once again be selling raffle
tickets for some great prizes as well as
tickets to take the stage for the opportunity
to “cream” a teacher with a pie in the face.
Students are encouraged to listen to
announcements for information on up and
coming ticket sales. Anyone still wishing to
join our headshave team, please see our Team
Leader, Mrs. Sperry.
United Way’s Backpacks for Kids: Helping

This year marks the 3rd year that PUL will be
running its Juniors Program. The league runs

Kids is already hard at work preparing for the
2015-2016 school year. The Backpacks for
Kids program ensures that all students in
grades K-12 can start the school year off
with the right tools for success.
Back to school season can be both an
expensive and stressful time of year. If your
family could benefit from assistance through
Backpacks for Kids, please contact your
school administration to sign up for this
program. Your information will be kept private
and confidential and you will not be asked to
prove your income. Please be advised that we
may not be able to provide backpacks for all
children.
Backpacks for Kids, is a special project of
United Way Peterborough & District and
relies on community support and donations
and 100% of donated funds are spent on
Backpacks. Donations are accepted at United
Way Peterborough & District on behalf of
Backpacks for Kids. Tax receipts are
available for donations of $20 or more. Call

ALL BOOKED UP
A new online book club for grades 5 and up!
Choose your own books, do up to 6 reviews,
post them on our private blog and be entered
to win an IPAD MINI (and loads of other
great prizes). You can also attend the club
parties at your local branch where there will
be food, games and prizes. Starts April 28 in
Lakefield, April 29 in Bridgenorth and April
30 in Ennismore.

Bridgenorth Fields for ages 8-14. Our league
really wants to make sure that students living
in the Bridgenorth Community are aware of
this league. Since you work at Chemong P.S.
and coached a Jr. Team for the KPR
tournament, I was wondering if you could
spread this word for me at your
school. Parents can sign their child up on the
PUL website www.pultimate.ca and come out
to the Spiplex on April 16th to pay and get a
jersey. It’s a great program and space is
limited.
