Voluntary Transfer Process Applications will be received
Voluntary Transfer Process Applications will be received electronically until midnight Tuesday, March 31, 2015. Each receiving Constituent School Board will review each application to determine if it meets or does not meet the transfer requirements according to Policy JFABC. Applications meeting the criteria for transfer will be sorted by lottery into the following RANKED categories for each school receiving applications: 1) Applications from eligible CCSD employees 2) Applications from siblings already attending the receiving school 3) Applications from within the Constituent District 4) Applications from other Constituent Districts 5) Applications from outside Charleston County All applications received which meet the transfer criteria will be used to create an Enrollment List for each school. If the number of applications exceeds the number of seats available at the school, the children of employees will be placed on the Enrollment List first. If the number of seats is less than the number of applications in this group then a lottery will determine the order of CCSD employee children’s applications on the Enrollment List. This sequence will be followed for each group of applications (after employee’s children for each school) received in the following order: 1) Applications from siblings already attending the receiving school 2) Applications from within the Constituent District 3) Applications from other Constituent Districts 4) Applications from outside Charleston County Applications which are ruled by the receiving constituent district board as not meeting transfer criteria will not be included in lotteries, but may be appealed to the CCSD County School Board. The CCSD Board will make the final decision of whether the application meets or does not meet the criteria for transfer. If the CCSD Board overturns the constituent board’s ruling, the application will be included in the lottery for an available seat at the school. Applications received after the deadline will be placed on the Enrollment List for a school behind all applications received prior to the application deadline. Parents will be notified via email of their application status. Status will be assigned as: • Accepted -‐ Ready for enrollment • Waiting List for enrollment As seats open for each school, they will be filled from the Enrollment List. Parents must enroll their children at their new school prior to the first day of August. Failure to meet this deadline may result in forfeiture of their child’s seat at the school to the next student on the waiting list.
