SUMMER DRIVER’S ED REGISTRATION: Summer Driver’s Ed registration is now open. Cost will be $250.00 (cash or money order only) and will be available to the first 70 paid applicants. You must have a valid Arkansas learner’s permit by June 8th in order to take the course. Please see Mrs. Sorenson in the South Office for your application. 2. PSAT / ACT PREP CLASSES FOR 9th GRADE: Summer Program information is available on-line on the district website, under the tab “Programs” and then under “Gifted and Talented”. Copies are also available in the Counseling Center. There is a parent meeting on May 5th at 6:00 p.m. at the Conway High School lecture hall. Contact information is Dr. Charlotte Green at [email protected] Registration closes Friday, May 1st, 2015. 3. CHS Lady Cat Basketball Tryouts – 2015-2016: Next year’s 9th grade girls Blue team tryouts will be held May 7th and 8th from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the South Gym. Next year’s 8 th grade girls Blue team tryouts will be held May 14th and 15th from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the North Gym. You must have a physical, consent, and concussion form to try out. 4. PUSH: Praying Until Someone Helps --- 9th grade students who want to pray with their peers and get encouragement for the week are invited to fellowship on Thursdays during lunch in room 2002. 5. TRYOUTS – BOYS BLUE BASKETBALL: Tryouts for the Conway Blue Boy’s Basketball 9th grade team will be held May 26th & 27th at the North Gym from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. You must sign up and pick up your paperwork from Coach McMillan this week. You may do so during the 8th grade lunch in the North Gym. Reminder!!! The $1.00 athletic physicals will be held on Monday, May 4th at the Buzz Bolding Arena – you MUST have a physical before you can tryout. 6. CJHS VOLLEYBALL 2015/2016 SCHOOL YEAR: Any young lady wishing to try out for the 9th grade Volleyball needs to sign up with Coach Vittitow or coach Worlow BEFORE Thursday, April 29th. You will need to get a current physical, consent, and concussion form. Tryouts will begin Tuesday, May 5 th and run through Friday, May 8th. 7. UCA SUMMER CAMPS: The University of Central Arkansas will be hosting a number of camps this summer. Students may pick up a flyer in their English teacher’s classroom. More information can be located on the UCA website at: http://uca.edu/outreach/camps 8. CONWAY VARSITY/JUNIOR VARSITY BASKETBALL: Tryouts for the 2015-2016 varsity/junior varsity basketball team will be held at Buzz bolding Arena May 27th, 28th, and 29th from 3:15 to 6:00 p.m. students must have a physical and a sighed concussion/consent form. All forms may be found on the Conway Athletic webpage. An informative meeting will be held Tuesday, May 5th at 3:30 p.m. in the high school PE gym classroom 501. If you have any questions, please contact Coach Will Johnson or Coach Longing. 9. LIBRARY BOOKS: ALL library books are due TUESDAY, MAY 12th. Please return the library books you borrowed by this date. 10. PHYSICALS: Students, it’s that time of the year again for getting your physical. They will be given at the Arena and cost $1.00. (If you plan to participate in any spring/summer practices, tryouts, or events you must have a current physical.) You will need to bring your money, the front page of the physical form (signed by the parent) , the athlete consent form (signed by athlete and parent), and the concussion form (signed by the athlete and parent). Forms are found on-line or see a Junior High coach. BOYS PHYSICALS: Monday, May 4th GIRLS PHYSICALS: Wednesday, May 6th 11. CJHS GIRLS BASKETBALL (WHITE) TRYOUTS: Tryouts for 2015-2016 girls White Basketball Team will be held May 18th through may 21st at the CJHS North Gym from 3:30 to 5:30 each day for girls entering 8 th and 9th grade. Participants must have all paperwork filed and checked by Coach Johnson by May 13 th. See Coach Johnson for details. 12. PARIS, PROVENCE, & BARCELONA: If you are interested I going on an incredible trip to France and Spain July 2016, come to an informational meeting Thursday, May 7 th at 7:00 p.m. in room 2002 or see Mrs. Williams for more information. Don’t miss out on this incredible adventure! 13. CYBER DISCOVER CAMP: Ninth grade students, the 2nd annual Cyber Discover Camp will be held at UCA from June 15 th to June 20th. Schools will send teams of six students and two teachers to camp where they will gain hands-on experience in robotics encryption. The camp culminates in a robotics competition between the schools in an arena. All expenses other than travel to the site are funded by the grant. On campus housing and meals are provided. There will be an interest meeting Thursday in room 1006 during 2 nd lunch. If you are interested, please attend this meeting. Applications will be given out at that time.
