Elder Law Program
Planning for the Future
CLG believes in the equality and worth of
each person and recognizes that the law
can affect individuals differently as their
circumstances change.
At CLG we support older adults who are able
to make their own legal decisions. We help
them prepare for the future by making
documents that will support their needs and
respect their wishes.
In the Elder Law Program, CLG helps older
adults understand their legal rights and
empowers them to stay independent for as
long as possible. We help individuals who
have questions or need support with:






Enduring Powers of Attorney
Personal Directives
Wills and Estate Planning
Estate Administration
Adult Guardianship and Trusteeship
Elder Abuse
Enduring Power of Attorney – A document
that gives another person the legal authority
to access your bank accounts, pay your bills,
and talk to government departments,
utilities companies and banks on your behalf
in case you are no longer able to manage
your own finances.
Personal Directive – A document that gives
another person the legal authority to make
medical decisions on your behalf, access
your private medical records, instruct your
doctors and other caregivers, and help you
get the care you need in case you are no
longer able to make your own personal care
decisions.
Will – A document that gives another
person the legal authority to access your
bank accounts, rental accommodations and
all other property after your death. A will
also states how you want to pass on your
money and/or property to others after you
die.
