Instruction for Application 2015-2016
Required Documents
*Every document must be written in either Japanese or English. If written in another language, a
Japanese or English translation must be attached.
*We will not accept your application unless all the documents are properly completed.
*Please do not send any documents that are not required.
*Please do not use a stapler for any documents.

Completed Application Form

Letter of recommendation from the applicant’s home university / institution in order to
indicate the student is in good standing

Official academic transcript from the applicant’s home university (Original)

Certificate of the Japanese language proficiency (if any)
 Certificate of Japanese language proficiency test, letter written by a faculty of Japanese
language courses or official transcript that proves the applicant’s study history of Japanese
language and level of achievement.
 If the applicant has never studied Japanese language, indicate this on the application form.
In this case, a certificate of Japanese language proficiency is not necessary.

Certificate of Health (prescribed form)
 This form consists of 2 sheets. Part A should be filled in by yourself, and Part B should be
filled in by the examining physician.

Certificate of Finance (prescribed form)
*Certificate of Finance is one of the most important documents in order to issue you a
Certificate of Eligibility. If you have any questions regarding how to fill out the form, please do
not hesitate to contact us.
 An official bank statement or a proof of scholarship/loan should be attached (Original)
 Generally, exchange students need at least 120,000 yen a month to stay in Japan. Thus,
students must submit evidence of financial resources of at least 600,000 yen + airfare for a
semester, 1,320,000 yen + airfare for a whole year.
 The proof of scholarship/loan should indicate name of the receiver, amount, and
institutional stamp.
 The bank statement should indicate name of the account holder and that the holder
has an amount enough to cover expenses for their stay in Japan.
 In case the account holder is yourself, please fill in information of your job/scholarship on
the Certificate of Finance Form.
 In case the account holder is yourself and the resources were transferred by your sponsor,
please provide the sponsor’s information by filling in the Certificate of Finance Form.

Copy of a valid passport
 This should be the page(s) showing name, date of birth, passport number, expiration date
and face picture.
 If your passport will expire during your stay in Japan, please renew it and send a copy of
the new passport.

Two recent photographs (4 × 3 cm)
 This should be passport quality, without background, without hat or other obscuring item.
 Attach one of them on the application form.
*Picture bigger than 4x3cm may not fit into your student ID card and Certificate of Eligibility.

Rikkyo University International Dormitory Housing Application (if necessary)
 If you wish to reside in one of the dormitories, you need to submit the housing application
form along with your exchange application.
 Before applying for a room, please be sure to read the regulations.
 In case there are more applicants than available spaces, we cannot accommodate you in
the dorm. The result of selection will be announced in late June for the Spring Semester
and in early February for the Fall Semester.

1. This application is to be submitted via airmail to COB & MIB International Business Program Office of
Rikkyo University by your home university or institution.

2. Application deadlines
For Spring 2015 admission : November 30, 2014
For Fall 2015 admission
: March 31, 2015
3. Applications should be completed in either Japanese or English.
4. Special International Students (exchange students) cannot enroll in a degree program.
5. Partner institutions of College of Business must confirm their students’ eligibility to participate in
the exchange program as stipulated by the terms of the exchange agreement with Rikkyo University
before they submit the application.
6. Applicants must check to see if their desired area of study is available in the programs of College of
Business or Graduate School of International Business. Rikkyo University does not accept exchange
applications for those who intend to solely study in the Japanese language program.

Some of the “regular courses offered by COB” and “Japanese studies in English” are taught in English,
while all other regular classes are offered in Japanese, except other language classes such as German,
French etc. In order to enroll in regular academic courses offered in Japanese, students are
recommended to have sufficient Japanese language proficiency. (Level N1 of the Japanese Language
Proficiency Test or J6 level of the Rikkyo University placement examination) For details, please refer to
the attachment to the program application form.
8. Please keep in mind that certain courses are offered only on a year-long basis beginning in April and
continuing into February of the following calendar year. Some classes are only open to students who
arrive in April and not available for the ones who arrive in September.

9. Please note that some courses limit the number of students to be enrolled and may be only open for
the students of a particular year (e.g. seniors). Generally, these courses may not be available to Special
International students.
10. Notification of admission will be emailed from Rikkyo University in the end of December for April
admissions and in the end of May for September admissions.
※ The information given for this application is used only for admission to Rikkyo University, and not used
for any other purposes.
