The Royal Pavilion
This breathtaking Regency palace offers a unique venue for civil
wedding ceremonies and receptions in the heart of Brighton.
Built as King George IV’s pleasure palace when Brighton was the
heart of fashionable Regency society, the Royal Pavilion was also
used by King William IV and Queen Victoria. Today it has been
restored to its original 1823 splendour with Indian architecture
contrasted with interiors inspired by China.

The Royal Pavilion Functions Team has over 17 years of experience and is pleased to
offer a friendly and personal service. From your first site visit to your special day they
are on hand to help make sure everything runs smoothly. They can also recommend
local suppliers who have previously worked at the Royal Pavilion.

Weddings and Civil Partnerships
The historic Red Drawing Room is the venue for civil ceremonies
at The Royal Pavilion. Retaining much of George IV’s original
1820’s decorative scheme, the room features red dragon wallpaper
and palm tree pillars. The Red Drawing Room can be booked for
wedding ceremonies and civil partnerships throughout the year and
can seat a total of 44 people.

Located on the ground floor of the Royal Pavilion and not open to the
general public, the Red Drawing Room has a private entrance leading
directly from the restored Regency gardens.
The room can be hired for ceremonies throughout the year (except
Christmas Day and Boxing Day) between the hours of 11am and 5pm.
Ceremonies are performed by the Brighton & Hove Register Office and
an additional fee is payable directly to them for this service.
Private guided tours of the palace can be arranged for guests at an extra
charge.
After the ceremony your photograph can be taken in the sumptuous
Music Room, followed by group photographs in the delightful setting of
the gardens.

Receptions
Situated on the first floor above the
Red Drawing Room the King William
IV Room offers an elegant setting
for both day and evening receptions.
Decorated in Chinese style, this
room features beautiful hand-painted
wallpaper and Chinese lanterns.
The room accommodates 60 people
for a seated dinner. The Functions
Team can advise on a caterer to suit
your needs.
The William IV Room also benefits from
its own private entrance leading directly
from the Royal Pavilion gardens.

reception even if you are not holding
your ceremony here. Please note that as
an historic building the Royal Pavilion
is not suitable for parties and dancing is
not permitted.

Ten steps to booking your
ceremony at the Royal Pavilion
1. Decide on a possible date or time of year for your ceremony.
2. Telephone us on 03000 290905 to see if the dates are available.
3. Book a site visit to come and view the rooms and make a provisional
booking if required.
4. Call the Brighton Register Office on 01273 294421 to check if they have
the date and times available. If yes, book the date with them also.
5. When you have decided to go ahead with the booking, email or write
to the Royal Pavilion confirming both of your names and date of your
ceremony.

6. Contact your LOCAL Register Office (nearest to where you both live) to
book an appointment to give notice. NB: this must be done no less than
16 days prior to the ceremony date.
7. On receipt of your hiring agreement from the Royal Pavilion, sign and
return.
8. Send a deposit of 1/3 of the total booking fee to the Royal Pavilion.
9. Approximately 4 weeks prior to your ceremony pay the final balance to
the Royal Pavilion.
10. Approximately 1 week prior, contact the Royal Pavilion and Brighton
Register Office to go through final details before your ceremony.
