Dear Ladies and Gentleman, dear IBU-members,
I am sending you my regards from Berlin, where spring has finally
arrived, and I would like to invite you to read our latest newsletter.
The past few weeks have seen a number of events and innovations
here at IBU. The recently agreed on mutual recognition with the
Spanish programme operator AENOR and its EPD programme
Global EPD has been one of our highlights. Furthermore, there is
news regarding the “ecobuild” in London, our first training unit
together with DGNB and also our annual meeting of our verifiers.
On 11 June 2015 our annual IBU member meeting will take place in
Berlin and I would especially like to point out that all our members are very welcome to
join. As in the previous years, an interesting framework programme has been arranged for;
many expert guest speakers will hold their presentations on the latest developments in
sustainable construction. In the next couple of days you will receive our official invitation
by mail.
The IBU office team is looking forward to meeting many of you and/or your colleagues in
June here in Berlin.

Annual meeting of IBU verifiers
On 12 February 2015 IBU invited all verifiers of the Independent Expert Committee to
attend the annual meeting in Berlin. During this one-day-meeting current issues and

DGNB and IBU successfully launched their joined training programme
IBU (Institut Bauen und Umwelt) and DGNB (German Sustainable Building Council) agreed
on a cooperation, which started in the beginning of 2015. The mutual aim is to firmly
establish the knowledge of all persons interested in Environmental Product Declarations
(EPDs), and to further highlight the importance of construction products for sustainable
construction.
The first, of altogether six, trainings to become a “DGNB Consultant for construction
products and the execution of construction work”, took place on 25 and 26 February in
Berlin...more
New PCR Part B for laboratory work tops and pre-formed fire protection
systems for cable and duct insulation
The spectrum of product groups for which EPDs can be
made at IBU is extended again by publishing two new PCR
Part B documents. After approval by the Advisory Board
(SVR) it is now possible for manufacturers to create, verify
and publish EPDs for laboratory work tops as well as in the
category pre-formed fire protection systems for cable and
duct insulation at IBU.
The documents can be found as all other PCR documents Part B in recent version via the
IBU database system https://epd-online.com.
