NEWSLETTER 10 – 17 April 2015
WELCOME BACK – Welcome back to a new term that sees many changes, staffing and otherwise.
We bid farewell last term to Mr. Schultz, Mr. Lamprecht and Miss Kaloo. This term we welcome Mrs.
Chikukwa and Miss Titus to the teaching staff and we also have new admin staff members who parents
will meet in the front office.
MEMORIAL GARDEN – The memorial garden for Mrs. Doust has been completed and parents are
welcome to visit the garden when visiting school. Thanks to Trust Trophies for sponsoring the
memorial plaque.
TUCK SHOP – The school has started running the tuck-shop from this term. Only food, cold-drinks
and water will be sold during the first break. Chips, chocolates and sweets will only be sold during
second break. Next week’s menu will be: Monday- Chip Roll (R10), Tuesday - Burger (R15),
Wednesday – Hot Dog (R12), Thursday – Vetkoek & Mince (R15), Friday (cake sale) – Hot Dog
(R12)/Burger (R15). Cold-drinks & Water - R10.
TABLETS/E-BOOKS – Parents wishing to purchase the school textbooks in electronic form can
contact Isabel at www.bothmabooks.co.za. Please get a list of the books you wish to purchase before
contacting them. You can decide to get all the textbooks or you can select to purchase certain
textbooks only. Most of our textbooks for the different subjects are the PLATINUM series of books.
Learners that already have tablets and have purchased the textbooks will be allowed to use the tablets at
school.
TABLET RAFFLE – We have a few 7” tablets that we intend raffling in order to raise funds for the
building. We will be having a monthly raffle for 1 tablet, the raffle tickets are R50 and there will only
be 100 tickets. This means you will have a 1 in 100 chance of winning a tablet in each raffle. The draw
will take place in the assembly as soon as all 100 tickets have been sold. Thereafter a new raffle will
start. Tickets are on sale from Mrs. Aldridge.
FUNCTIONS AND FUNDRAISERS – The first fundraiser for this term is the Mother and
Daughter Tea on the 9th May at school. Tickets are on sale for R50 per person. Our major function
for this term is the Debutantes Ball on 20th June. This will be a formal dinner-dance event. Learners
from all grades are invited to attend. The competition is based on the learners collecting the highest
amounts of money. There will be a minimum entry amount and the participants will have to sell tickets
too. A separate letter giving more information will be sent out next week.

LATECOMING – There are too many learners coming late on a regular basis. In future, learners who
arrive late will have to be signed in by their parent or driver or else they will not be allowed into class.
Latecomers will be kept in internal suspension for the first four periods so as not to disturb the other
learners who come to school on time. Repeat offenders will be kept in internal suspension for the
whole day and if the situation persists, parents will be called in or learners will have to serve detention.
DETENTION – We will be having a detention period for senior phase learners on certain Fridays from
13h30 to 15h30. Parents will be given at least one week’s notice if your child is serving detention and
you will have to make transport arrangements.
ADNO’S – Our Uniform suppliers have informed us of the following:
Tracksuits – They will only be receiving tracksuits at the end of May.
Tunics/Dresses – They have sourced tunics from a different supplier that is much cheaper than the
previous one. The colour is slightly different to our original colour but we have agreed to this.
