crusade against superstition and
pernicious practices that had bewildered the
inhabitants of the ancient land. A great son of Mother
India raised his stentorian voice in the ‘Satyartha
Prakash’ against the British rule and set before us
the ideals of Swaraj and Swadeshi. He advocated
eradication of untouchability, emancipation of
women, widow remarriage and adoption of Hindi as
the lingua franca of the country.
