DCS celebrates Dominican Days 2015
DCS observed its Annual Dominican Days 2015 on April 27
to 29. The event kicked off with a Eucharistic Celebration
held on April 27 at the Multipurpose Hall celebrated by
Archbishop Anthony S. Apuron, OFM Cap DD. In his homily, he honored St. Catherine of Siena, the Dominican Tertiary and Doctor of Church, whose feast day is on April 29.
He reminded everyone to ask St. Catherine to pray for all
to be good and faithful Christians and to be good sheep of
the good shepherd, Jesus Christ. He also asked the students to pray for the Dominican Sisters and their respec-
tive Ministries, and the entire Dominican Family (faculty
and staff, parents and students).
The Dominican Days was a three-day of fun and excitement. Some of the activities held were: booth with food
and toys, concert, showing of talents through class presentation, fun games, classroom party, and coronation of
Mr. & Ms. Dominican 2015. Please see insert for Dominican Days specials.
One Voice: DCS Guam and DIS Taiwan Concert
The D’Torch Band of Dominican International School, Taipei, Taiwan, together
with The Veritas Choir of Dominican
Catholic School, Yigo, Guam, held a
concert dubbed as “Reaching Out,
The D’Torch Band
Forging Bonds, through Songs,
Dance, and Music” on April 25, 27,
and 29, 2015 at the DCS Multipurpose
Hall. Proceeds of the concert will go to
the construction of The Veritas Gymnasium/Auditorium. The D’Torch Band
and the Veritas Choir had prepared and worked hard for the concert. During
the concert, musicians from DIS did an outstanding performance. Some of the
songs they played were music from Les Miserable, Disney, Glee, and classics from
Mozart. Playing with them was a guest artist James Lin who played solo.
As well, the DCS Veritas Choir did an amazing performance doing mostly a cappella songs, namely There’s a Praise, Lean on Me, Can’t Help Fallin’ in Love, New
Creation, and a lot more. It was indeed a time of relaxation and entertainment
listening to good music from good musicians.

May is H-U-G Mommy Month
The month of May is
always special because
of the celebration of
Mother's day. Just like
a Father, a mother
Fr. Danny Ferrandiz
plays a vital role in the
DCS Chaplain
stability of the family.
She, like the Father, is the base of a triangle. The Triangle is the oldest symbol that
represents Balance, Unity and Interdependence.
But the real message is not in the picture
of the triangle but in how it is made up. It
is made up of three equal sides but interdependent. If you removed one angle, not
only does it cease to be a triangle but also
removing one angle would eliminate the
two other angles. Each is distinct angle but
each is dependent on each other for existence. Hence, in the family, if you removed
the mother from the picture, the pictures
becomes incomplete.
This is the reason why I call the month of
MAY "HUG mommy month". This reminds
us that mommies need HUGS, lots of hugs
from us. H-U-G-S. H-U-G-S means a life
that is HEALTHY, UNITED, GROWING and
STABLE (lasting). Every Christian family
must engage in HUGS.
No family no matter how strong is immuned to the threat of being broken. This
is where we need the Holy Spirit. “Walk in
the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust
of the flesh… (Gal. 5:16). Mothers can
guard their families by remembering the
BREAD that Jesus gives in the Eucharist.
B-begin with yourself. Remind yourself
always that your marriage is a covenant
with God. Breaking it would be breaking
your promise with God.
R- Reject outside influences encouraging
infidelity. Make sure that your “friends”
support the sanctity of marriage.
E- Establish clear boundaries. Don’t be a
Egg Hunt at Soccer Field
savior. Resist the desire to rescue an unhappy soul who pours his heart to you.
A- Avoid dangerous situations such as the
tendency to divulge intimate matters to
others first before your husband. Avoid
thinking that your friend of the opposite
sex understands you better than your husband. Do not disregard the “warning advice” of
concerned friends who observed some
things about you.
D-Dedicate your life to your Family. A lifetime of dedication and unconditional love
for the family becomes a pillar of strength
and an inspiration to the family.
Parenthood is an important calling. Our
children and grandchildren are an ongoing
investment, a gift we leave to a world we
won't be part of, but which we will impact
for eternity through the generations that
follow us. Don't miss the chance. Don't
leave yourself full of regrets.
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL MOMS!
