This meeting will provide details about orientation and registration, and highlight programs and services critical to your transition as a new student. 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. College Meeting Representatives from your college will present an overview of the college, its degree programs, and specific course requirements. Learn more and ask questions about UHS services, how UHS works with insurance (if you have it) and the benefits of and costs for the Student Health Insurance Plan. UTeach-Liberal Arts Take the World by the Horns Getting Involved in Undergraduate Research 3 Summer School Orientation 2015 2-3 p.m. • 3-4 p.m. UTransform: Transitioning from High School to College Academics JES A121A (Freshman students must attend one of these sessions) Come talk with current students and professional learning specialists about what to expect at UT Austin and how to prepare effectively. Be the student who knows how to study and succeed in college academics. 3-4 p.m. Discover UT: Session II Program Name Location Description SAC 1.102 Come by, grab a snack, and discover a safe space for students of various communities here at UT Austin. Learn more about our welcome programs and how to become involved in one of our many sponsored student agencies in MEC. Energy Management Program CBA 4.338 The Energy Management Program equips students to successfully meet challenges by training them in business, geoscience, petroleum operations and law. Elective coursework focuses on environmental issues, sustainable development, energy trading, and alternative energy solutions. LGBTQ Orientation SAC 2.112 Join us for a chance to get to know the resources that the Gender and Sexuality Center has to offer. Tour the space, meet some students and sign up for clubs and organizations. Everyone is welcome. SAC 2.302 Student Government serves as the official voice of students and ensures that input is heard from the halls of campus to the lawmaking hubs of D.C. Freshmen can run for SG representative and Longhorn Legislative Aide positions. Learn how you can be a part of SG! UTC 3.110 Residence Life staff and students will lead discussions about what to expect when you check-in, what to bring with you, as well as share tips on living with a roommate. You will also learn about the benefits of getting connected to the residence hall community and how to engage with and lead on your floor. BLS 1.130 Meet faculty, students, and staff from the African and African Diaspora Studies (AADS), or Black Studies, department to learn about how UT Austin’s Black history has helped shape life on the 40 Acres. Student leaders will share the ins and outs on how to be academically successful, and financially stable, at UT-Austin, in particular as low- income and/or minority students. PAI 2.48 Student receiving financial aid are required to attend this session. Financial aid counselors will explain how to complete financial aid requirements and avoid errors that can cause delays. You will also learn the steps needed to pay your upcoming tuition and on-campus housing bill. Parents are more than welcome to join this session. Join Sarah Littlefield as she embarks on her firstyear journey and discover what it means to be a Longhorn.
