Melbourne Prize Trust Executive Director, Mr Simon Warrender, said he is delighted to be offering the Prize and Awards again after a successful 10th anniversary year in 2014. "The 2015 Prize and Awards continue our commitment to promote and develop our literary sector. This year has been made possible by the generous participation of our 2015 partners and patrons,” Mr Warrender said. “We are grateful for the generous support of all our partners, who share our objective to promote Melbourne and Victoria’s reputation as a centre of opportunity for writers,” Mr. Warrender concluded. Melbourne is one of the world’s most celebrated literary cities and the Prize supports Melbourne's status as a UNESCO International City of Literature by demonstrating the importance of literature in our community and the central role writers play in our cultural life. The Victorian Government, through Creative Victoria, and the City of Melbourne are the Government Partners this year. Other partners include identity and design by Cornwell, The Faculty of the VCA and MCA, and founding supporter The Committee for Melbourne. A free public exhibition of finalists in each category will be held at Federation Square from 9 to 23 November 2015. The exhibition will provide exposure for writers and showcase a broad range of literary excellence to the public. Federation Square reflects and cultivates Melbourne's pre-eminence as a centre for creativity and innovation. The team at Federation Square is dedicated to working with artists and creative practitioners to create provocative works that respond specifically to the unique physical and social environment that is Melbourne's meeting place. Federation Square is the exhibition and events partner and 'home' of the annual Melbourne Prize. This long-term partnership makes it possible for the public, visiting the free public exhibition each November, to engage with abundant talent in literature, music and (urban) sculpture. It provides artists with public exposure in one of the country's most visited public spaces. The Melbourne Prize Trust appreciates Federation Square's generous support, which enhances our creative resources and provides opportunities to promote our abundant artistic talent through the annual Melbourne Prize.
