Dear Parents,
After a slight delay in an effort to secure even better prices the Grade 1 tablets will
be in use next week. This is an exciting step for us and I am looking forward to seeing the benefit that this added dimension to learning can provide.
Sandwich Drive
At this stage Grade 6N is the class to beat. Their pile of peanut butter and jam is
already substantial and I’d like to thank the parents for their support.
There is a Sandwich Drive Information Letter that can be read on the D6 as well as
on the website. This will inform all parents of how the Sandwich Drive works.

Arrrrrr me hearties….!
What did the pirate say when his wooden leg got stuck in the freezer?
Shiver me timbers!
Why couldn't the pirates play cards?
The captain was standing on the deck!
What does a pirate say when he has a heart attack?
Arrr! Me heartie!
As a child, I was made to walk the plank. We couldn't afford a dog.
Have a good week.

U13 girls played in the Northlands Winter Sports Festival on
Saturday,18th April.
They played 5 matches, won 1,drew 1 and lost 3. Our girls tried hard
and played well. They showed some good build up play but lacked the
required decisiveness in the final 3rd.
The tournament was a good start to the season and the girls will take
valuable lessons from these matches.

Dear Parents and Ardent Supporters of DNPS,
Our Sandwich Drive is our major fundraiser at DNPS. The target is for each child to bring in a minimum of R300 per
sponsor sheet.
This is how it will work

A sponsor form will be handed to children bearing the school logo, the child’s name and a sponsor form number. Parents and school supporters are asked to sponsor their child according to how many sandwiches he/she
may make in a 10 minute period. (The average is about 40)
Or
Pledge to make a straight, one-off donation
By the end of April, pupils are asked to provide either a jar of peanut butter or a tin of apricot/ mixed fruit jam.
During the week 11 – 13 May 2015, each class will have an opportunity to make their sandwiches.
Each child will be asked to bring 3 loaves of bread to school on the specific day allocated to his/her grade.
We will also ask for further donations of bread from bakeries and stores
Tables will be set up in the hall.
Grade Mums, Dads, Grandparents, friends of DNPS will be asked to help us
Clean up
Set up
Replenish supplies
Count sandwiches
Stack and pack sandwiches
Children will be given 10 minutes to make as many sandwiches as possible
Each child’s completed sandwiches will be stacked in a box and counted by volunteer mums, dads,
Grandparents and friends of DNPS.
The number of sandwiches made by each child will be entered onto the child’s sponsor form.
Charities that we support will be contacted to collect the sandwiches
Left over bread, jam and peanut butter will also be donated to charity
The sponsor form will be returned to your child so that the donations and sponsor money can be recorded,
collected and sent to school.
There are 30 spaces on our sponsor sheet – if your child could collect R10 from 30 people, he/she could easily
return R300.
In this way, charities as well the school can benefit from our fundraising effort.
Prizes will be awarded as follows

SP class that raises the most money - Nandos treat

FP class that raises the most money – Nandos treat

FP boy who raises the most money - prize

FP girl who raises the most money - prize

SP girl who raises the most money - prize

SP boy who raises the most money - prize
As we have only one major fundraiser per year, we ask that you support us generously.
Yours truly
F. Nel (Mrs)

Message from the Chairman
Dear Parents
I made public my contact details in my letter addressed to
parents on the 24th March 2015. While I remain available to
parents, I urge parents who wish to make comment on any aspect
of the school, to contact the Parent Liaison Representative whose
contact details may be found on the DNPS Website.
I apologise for any confusion my letter may have caused.
God bless
