SMART APPLIANCES STANDARDIZATION AND ROADMAP IN SMARTM2M
Marylin Arndt, Orange
ETSI Smart M2M Chair, 01st April, 2015
SAP Initiative
Target: solution for interoperability
• “Plug‐and‐Play” integration of smart appliances/devices from different manufacturers and Interoperability between heterogeneous systems
• allow holistic energy management, with a “standardized” communication between appliances, utilities •
and home energy systems
Assure that the appliances would communicate one each other, and with the application servers in local gateway and remote servers
EupPs would get a EupP Plug and play label by 2016 to
facilitate a mass adoption, deployment and installation

Title: SmartM2M Smart Appliances Common Ontology and SmartM2M/oneM2M mapping
Scope: The result of the European Commission Study Group on Smart Appliances ontologies will take into account all the interest of the relevant stakeholders. This work will review the Study and adapt it to the structure of an normative document. Additionally, it will develop the mapping on the SmartM2M and possibly to oneM2M. Therefore this work has two major objectives: 1) To provide a standardize framework for the Common Ontology derived from the EC Study Group on Smart Appliances 2) To map the common ontology onto the elementary ETSI M2M and possibly oneM2M standardized resources and services. Foreseen Completion date first expected : May 2015
Status: ‐ The results of the Study Group have been used, allowing convergence of the Study and SmartM2M/oneM2M stakeholders, about the common ontology
‐ Remaining issues :
‐ choice of the architecture : ETSI M2M or oneM2M ?
‐ need to standardize the ontology, need to standardize the methodology DTS/SmartM2M‐103 267 SAP_Com (TS 103 267)
Title: SmartM2M Smart Appliances Application of ETSI M2M Communication Framework
Scope: This TS will define a framework for Smart Appliances communication based on ETSI M2M and oneM2M specifications. It will also provide the proper configuration support and adjustments as required by the interested stakeholders. This TS includes: 1) a general informative description of the ETSI M2M/oneM2M framework. 2) the specification of the interworking framework for Smart Appliances with normative reference to ETSI M2M and oneM2M specifications. 3) the specification of all the required configurations and setting to assure a full interworking with plug and play support for Smart Appliances.
Foreseen Completion date: May 2015
Status: Now OneM2M Release 1 specifications are available (released 31 January 2015), ETSI SmartM2M Release 2 was available from 2 years. Both provided guidelines and references to the mentioned specifications. Good progress, in parallel with TNO study advancement, the normative doc might be improved anyway. Decision to refer to oneM2M framework. (2 remote meetings are planned, 12nd and 16th April)
DTS/SmartM2M‐103 268‐1 SAP_tst (TS 103 268)
Title : Conformance testing: Scope : these Technical Specifications will support SAP common ontology and communication framework testing needs. In particular it will support any testing definition needs as identified by European initiatives Work program : It is made of 4 parts •
•
•
•
Testing Methodology (TS 103 268‐1)
Protocol Implementation Conformance Statements (PICS)(TS 103 268‐2)
Test Suite Structure and Test Purposes (TSS) (TS 103 268‐3)
Abstract Test Suite (ATS) and Protocol Implementation eXtra Information for Testing (PIXIT) (TS 103 268‐4)
Status :
Finalization is tentatively planned in March 2016, ETSI has already allocated the necessary resources for ETSI SmartM2M Release 2 test specifications, it remains to be clarified the relation with the oneM2M testing specifications end the related timing. First phase will begin in May 2015 . ToRs might be refined. Proposition of Roadmap wrt SmartM2M /
oneM2M standardization activities (end 2014)
