DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL, SUSHANT LOK CLASS VII ASSIGNMENT FOR SUMMER BREAK-MATHEMATICS Hello children. Vacations are round the corner and we are all geared up for the fun and frolic, visits to grandparents and other destinations. The excitement is in the air. Just to keep you all a little connected to academics during the break, we have designed a few questions in Mathematics, which you can very easily fit into your routine. The questions are applications of concepts that you already know. We want you to try these independently and put in your best effort. However, if you are not able to solve them, you need not worry. We will solve them together when we rejoin school after the holidays. Attempt them on A4 single lined sheets. Here we go: 1.One of your relatives returned from Switzerland and got you a box of nice Swiss chocolates……yummm…..containing 160 chocolates. As you live in a joint family with 3 cousins, you have to share the chocolates with them and also with your sibling. (Tough it sounds but remember “sharing is caring”).Your mother told you to give half of the chocolates to your cousins and your brother. 1/5 of the remaining wereto be given to your maid’s daughter. How many chocolates will be left for you? I’m sure you will help…… How many slabs of cements will be required to tile a platform of length 8 m and breadth 6m, if the length of each slab is 6cm and breadth 4cm? (Isn’t it easy ???Come on, we did such calculations in Mensuration last year) 6. Now your grandfather wants to check your Mathematical skills. Are you game for it? Here’s the situation he has given you. Ranjan has 1200 mango trees in his garden. In one year, he estimated that 720 mangoes were produced by each tree. He packed 500 mangoes in a box. How many boxes did he use for packing all the mangoes? If he loaded 432 boxes in truck, how many trucks did he hire? 7.
