DP World Chennai hosts the launch of MSC’s AES Service

DP World Chennai proudly hosted the launch of Mediterranean Shipping Company, (MSC)’s
Australia Express Service (AES) which will link South & East India to South East Asia & Far
East ports and offer faster transit times to major markets in Mediterranean and US East
Coast. The service commenced with SCT Zurich making the maiden call on 15th April.
To commemorate the first call of AES, a function was held on board the vessel today.
Dignitaries present at the ceremony were Mr. Atulya Misra, Chennai Port Trust Chairman,
Capt. Sinha, the Deputy Port Conservator and Capt. Dhananjay V Javadekar, Vice
President - All India Ops, MSC. The customary plaque exchange was carried out by Mr. K.
K. Krishnadas, CEO, DP World Chennai with the master of the vessel followed by traditional
honoring of the delegates.
Mr. K. K. Krishnadas, CEO, DP World Chennai thanked MSC for choosing CCTL for their
new service – Australia Express Service. He also added, “At CCTL it is our continuous
endeavor to deliver the best service to all our customers, such developments continue to
encourage us and provide us with the momentum to improve as a terminal operator.”
The weekly service is scheduled to call at Chennai every Wednesday and sail out on
Thursday. AES service MSC will deploy 12 x 3400 TEU capacity vessels with the following
port rotation:
Sydney > Melbourne > Adelaide > Fremantle > Singapore > Chennai > Colombo > King
Abdullah > Piraeus > Valencia > Sines > Fos sur Mer > La Spezia > Naples > Gioia Tauro >
Pointe Des Galets > Port Louis > Sydney
Utilising King Abdullah Port (Saudi Arabia), MSC will offer improved service to East Africa
and Red Sea, and utilising Valencia it will offer improved service to other major trades such
as East Coast USA, US Gulf and East Coast South America.

Mr. Krishna Kumar, V.P. South India, MSC, remarked on the service launch as a step
forward in the right direction and in line with the constant need to offer expanded & reliable
products to the customers.
