Cultural Report

Art Carnival was organized by Action for Autism on 2nd April 2013. 15 students participated and
got participation prizes and certificates.

Ninth Inter School Computer Festival competition was organized by Very Special Arts on 30 th April
2013. 4 Students participated and Chanderkant won Special prize and Tohid received 2nd prize.

The International Talent Search Competition was organized by Navjyoti Institute for Mentally
Handicapped, VasantKunj, Delhi on 2nd Aug. 2013. 8 students participated and performed well.

Annual Art Competition was organized by AkshayPratishthan, VasantKunj, N.D. on 14th Aug.
2013. 5 students participated and got participation certificates.

14th Inter School Music Festival “Baithak”was organized by Very Special Arts India at India
International Centre, Lodhi Road, N.D. on 23th Aug. 2013. 2 Students participated and Gurvinder
Singh won 1st prize while Lakshay Birla won 2nd Prize in playing musical instrument .

Regional Abilympics 2013- North Zone was organized by National Abilympic Association of
India at Amar Jyoti Charitable Trust, Karkardooma, Delhi from 10 th to 12th Oct. 2013. 8 students
participated in various events and got certificates.

The Anmol Festival was organized by MTNL Perfect Health Mela, Constitution Club of India,
RafiMarg, N.D. on 26th Oct. 2013. 9 students participated in Group Dance and won 1st prize.
YogitaVasdev participated in Solo Song and won 3rd prize and 3 students participated in Diya
Decoration Competition and got certificates.

Children‟s Day was celebrated in our school on 14th Nov. 2013. Students participated in various
events like painting, musical chair, dance and other games..

Vocational Training Program was organized by Shaurya Foundation Trust at Delhi Rides
Amusement Park, KalindiKunj on 14th Nov. 2013. 4 students participated in Painting and 2 in
Vocational training.

Tenth Inter School Computer Festival organized by Very Special Arts of India,
Indian
International Centre, Lodhi Estate, New Delhi on 29th Nov. 2013. 4 students participated and
Sujeet won prize.

SAMARTH 2014, A National Level Dance & Music Competition for Specially Talented Artists was
organized by Department of Disabilities Affairs, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment,
Government of India at Siri Fort Auditorium, New Delhi on 15th& 16th Jan. 2014. 9 students
participated in Group Dance and Maqsood participated in Solo Dance ..

Bhajan Singing Competition- SWARANJALI was organized by Amar Jyoti Charitable Trust,
Karkardooma on 29th Jan. 2014. 5 students participated and performed well. They got
participation prizes and certificates.

Annual Cultural Fiesta 2014 was organized by Laxman Public school, HauzKhas Enclave, N.D., on
13th Feb. 2014. 8 students participated in group dance at “Khwaja mere Khwaja” song and won
1st prize. Osama participated in Fashion Show, Shaiby in Painting competition and Mohar Singh
participated in Fun Activity and they got Coffee Mugs as consolation prize.

Inter School Rangoli& Flower arrangement contest was organized by Very Special Arts India on
21st Feb. 2014. 3 students participated in Rangoli competition, 2 students participated in Flower
arrangement and 2 students participated in Quiz contest. Monika and Mahima won 2nd prize in
flower arrangement and others got certificates.

Annual Painting Competition was organized on 19th Feb. 2014 at our centre. 18 students
participated from our school and 129 students from other schools participated in the competition.
Abhishek won 1st prize, Priyanka Mehta, Priyanka Sharma and GautamWahi won 3rd prize. While
the rest of the students in the school also painted as per themes given and got participation prizes.
Cultural program, Taikandoo and Pyramid formation were also presented by our students for the
guests and visitors.
Sport‟s Report

Third Inter School Carom Competition was organized by Very Special Arts India on 5th April 2013.
4 students participated and won 2 Gold Medals, Trophy and certificates.

State Badminton Competition was organized by Special Olympics Bharat at Air Force Golden
Jubilee School, Subroto Park from 16th April to 17th April. 8 students participated and got 2 Gold
Medals, 2 Silver Medals, 1 Bronze Medal and 1 Tie.

National FIFA World Unified Cup was organized by Special Olympics Bharat from 18 th April to
24th April 2013 at Andhra pradesh. One student, Noel Gomes was participated in Football
Competition.

Delhi State Women‟s Athletic Championship for Intellectually Disabled was organized by Special
Olympic Bharat at Tyagraj Stadium from 29th April to 1st May 2013. 12 students participated and
won 4 Gold Medals, 3 Silver Medals, 4 Bronze Medals.

State Hand Ball Competition & selection for National Volleyball was organized by Special
Olympic Bharat at Thyagraj Stadium, N.D. from 29th to 30th July 2013. 14 students participated
and won 4 Bronze medals in State Hand Ball competition.

State Football Competition & Final selection for National Volleyball Camp was organized by
Special Olympics Bharat at Thyagraj Stadium, N.D. on 6th& 7th Aug 2013. One student, RohitNegi
was selected for National Volleyball Competition and 18 students participated in football
competition and won 5 gold medals, 5 bronze medals and certificates.

State Bocce Competition was organized by Special Olympics Bharat at Anchal Special School,
Chankyapuri, N.D. on 22nd& 23rd Aug 2013. 9 students participated and won 4 bronze medals.

Football National Camp wasorganized by Special Olympics Bharat at Laxman Public School,
HauzKhas, N.D. on 24th Sep. 2013. Sujeet and Kavita Seth were selected for Football National
Competition.

Football National Competition was organized by Special Olympics Bharat at Hissar, (Haryana)
from 28th to 4th Sept. 2013. 1 student, Sujeet participated and won 1st prize

XX Edition of Commonwealth Games was organized by Special Olympics Bharat at
Chatarashal Stadium, Model Town on 11th Oct. 2013. 7 students participated. Noel Gomes won
gold medal in Long Jump and Monika won bronze medal in 100mtr race.

Inter School Sports Meet was organized by JamiaMilliaIslamia at School Campus, Jamia Nagar,
N.D. on 23rd Oct 2013. 17 students participated in various events like Hopping race, 100 mtr
race, Bocce, Banana race, Frog race and musical chair. They won 1 gold,1 silver and 1 bronze
medal in Hopping race, 2 gold medals in 100mtr race, 1 gold and 1 silver medal in musical chair,
1 silver medal in Bocce, 1 silver medal in Banana race and 1 silver & 1 Bronze in Frog race.

Inter School Sports Meet organized by Amarjyoti School at Yamuna Sports Complex, Yamuna
Bank, Delhi on 21st Nov. 2013. 9 students participated and won 3 silver medals, 1 bronze medal
and certificates.

Inter School Sports Meet 2014 was organized by Sadhu Vaswani International School, Shanti
Niketan, N.D. on 25th Feb. 2014. 8 students participated in Hurdles and Amani won 3rd prize.

Athletics National Selection Camp 2014 was organized by Special Olympics Bharat at Tyagraj
Stadium from 3rd to 7th March 2014. Aslam participated in 100 mtr. Sprint and Race. He was
selected by Special Olympics Bharat.

National Championship in Athletics for Intellectually Disabled Athletes was organized by Special
Olympics Bharat at Nehru Stadium, N.D. from 12th March to 15th March 2014. Aslam participated
in 100 mtr. Race and Shot put and got 7th position & 4th position, respectively.
Other Activities

Special Olympic Bharat organized Zonal Meet Head of Institutions 2013 on 11th April 2013 in our
school. 30 Principal‟s and HOD‟s from different school participated in the event.

Parent‟s Training Program was organized on 18th May 2013 from 10:00 to 11:30 AM on the topic
“Managing family stress and role of family in management of a child with special needs”, by Mrs.
RadhaKumari Former Executive Director, Amar Jyoti Research & Rehabilitation Centre.
Approximately 90 parents attended the session.

PTM was organized on the same day 18th may 2013 from 11:30 to 1:00 PM. Annual Reports
were given to parents. After that TLM exhibition was also organized at Recreational Hall (UTSAV).

Music Therapy workshop for teachers and therapist was organized on 24 th May2013. The
workshop was conducted by Mr. Somesh.

Prayer Meeting for Maharaniji was organized on 24th May at 3:30 PM.Mr. Bahri were present on
the occasion with the staff members.

School reopened after summer vacations on 4th July 2013.

Inaugurationceremony of Block printing section and two looms of weaving section was organized
on 9th July 2013.The renovation of this wing of the School was sponsored by the Dave Family.
Mrs. Pushpa Surya Murti, Association President of all over India in Innerwheel Cub from Mumbai
attended the function with around 50 ladies of club. Mrs. ChitrangadaRaje Singh, Mrs. Shyamali
Mukherjee and Mr. Behri were also present on the occasion. Electronic items for sensory integration
therapy were donated by Innerwheel club. A cultural program was presented by our students.

Kite Making Competition was organized on 6th Aug 2013. All students of Nursery to VTC section
participated in the competition.

ID-UL-FITER was also celebrated on 8th Aug. 2013. All students enjoyed dance party. Toffees
were distributed to all students and staff members.

For the first time an event „JYOT‟ was organized at our school with support from Ms. PayalBayana
and Mrs. SarvatAggarwal. There were 7 stalls of clothes, bags, jewellery etc. including 1 stall of
our VTC products. The students performed on „Khwaza mere Khwaza‟ song. The event was
reported by The Hindustan Times dated 19th August 2013.

Independence Day was also celebrated on 13th Aug 2013. Student, Namit hosted the National
Flag in the presence of President Mrs. ChitrangdaRaje, Hon. Secretary Mrs. Shyamali Mukherjee,
other guests and all staff members & students. After that all students participated in Kite flying
competition and enjoyed very much. Gifts and sweets were distributed to all students.

Rakhi making competition was conducted on 16th Aug. 2013. All students of Nursery to VTC
section participated in the competition.

Mehandi Competition was conducted on 19th Aug. 2013 in the morning and after that
RakshaBandhan was celebrated in the afternoon. VTC Girls prepared Kheer with the help of the
cook which was then used as prashad for distribution among students and staff.

An exhibition, titled “RONAIN” was organized by Mr. Robin Passi at Rolland Gallery, Alliance
Francaise, 72 Lodhi Estate on 20th Aug. 2013. We displayed our products with the help of Mrs.
Aruna Sharma and Miss. Shakshi.

Mrs. KarunaShriram, came to our centre for a general group discussion with our teachers on
Special Education on 23rd Aug. 2013.

Janamashtmi was celebrated on 27th Aug 2013. Students of Junior section participated in Jhanki
Decoration, Nursery & Senior students participated in cultural program, VTC Beauty Culture
students prepare participants of cultural program with their make-up, VTC girls engaged in
parshaddistribution with the help of their teachers.

The school students with all the staff members for the first time went to see the movie „Chennai
Express‟ at Satyam Cinema on 29th Aug 2013.This outing was arranged by Ms. NamitaChhiba&
was thoroughly enjoyed.

Mrs. RanjanaPandey, Director of Janmadhyam Special School came to our centre for a general
group discussion with our teachers on Special Education on 2nd Sep. 2013.

Teacher‟s day was celebrated on 5th Sep 2013 at our centre. Society felicitated all teachers with
gifts.

Best out of Waste Competition was organized on 11th Sep 2013. All students participated and
performed well.

Beauty culture restarted on 21st Sep. 2013, after up-gradation of equipments and fixtures.

Parent Teacher Meeting of first semester was conducted on 28th Sep. 2013.

Art & Craft Activity on the theme-Dushera, was organized on 7th Oct 2013. Nursery to VTC
students participated.
Dental Check-up program was conducted by Dr. Abhishek Mehta with their team of seven doctors

from Department of Public Health Dentistry, Faculty of Dentistry, JamiaMilliaIslamia on 3rd and
4th Oct. 2013 for all students of our school.

Dushera Festival was celebrated in the presence of our society members with zeal on 10th Oct
2013. This year Effigy of Ravan was made by students of nursery section and a small play was
presented by junior sections with the help of teachers.

Diwali Sale started on 14th Oct 2013.

Mrs. StutiKacker from the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Department of Disability
Affairs visited our School on the 15th of Oct 2013.Acultural programme was presented by the
students.

Our school participated in DiwaliMelaatAmar Jyoti School on 25th Nov 2013.

PTM (Parents Teacher Meeting) were conducted on 26th Oct. 2013.

Our school participated inDiwali Mela, which was organized by AkshayPrathistan at The Grand
Hotel, VasantKunj, Delhi on 26th Oct. 2013.
JamiaBazar was organized by JamiaMilliaIslamia at Islamic International Centre on 26 th and 27th

Oct. 2013.

Our products were also exhibited for sale at Escort Hospital from 28th Oct. to 1st Nov. 2013.

Diwali Greeting Card making competition was organized on 30th Oct 2013. Nursery to VTC
students participated.
VTC Girls participated inRangoli Making Competition on 1st Nov. 2013. Anjali and Deepti won
1st prize, Amber won 2nd prize, Shristi won 3rd prize and three participants got consolation
prizes. Society felicitated all staff members and students with Diwali gifts. President and Hon‟ble
Secretary were present for the function.


National Conference on Intellectual Disabilities was organized by NIMH at VigyanBhawan, N.D.
on 7th and 8th Nov. 2013. Parents of 30 students from our school attended the conference.

A conference on the topic- “Consultation on Intellectual challenges of childhood”,organized by
Amrit Foundation at India International Centre, Lodhi Road on 21st Nov. 2013. Mrs.
NirmalChabbra attended the conference.

Parent Teacher Meeting was conducted on 23rd Nov. 2013.

The National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Multiple Disabilities, Chennai
approached the Society for organizing the National Conference on Children with Multiple
Disabilities, in Delhi on the 27th& 28th of Nov,2013. This took place at the Sri Fort Auditorium.
DSWSC provided local & logistical support to this event. MsStutiKacker, Secretary, Ministry of

Kumar Awasthi, IAS Joint Secretary, DDA,MSJ&E, Dr. PoonamNatrajan& delegates from all over
India were participating & present at this conference. Our students participated in the Welcome
song, our staff & Mrs. Niharika Nigam successfully managed the arrangements.

Sports Activities was organized on 3rd Dec. 2013, World Disabled Day at our school. All parents
of the students were invited for the event. Parents of 21 students attended the programme.

Second Inter School Sports Meet 2013 was organized by our school on 6th and 7th Dec. 2013. 7
other schools i.e., Child Guidance Centre, Manovikas, NIMH, S.A.S.R., Cheshire Home, Learning
Ladders and Shaurya Centre participated in the event.

A Goody Bag Picnic at Children‟s Park, India Gate was organized by Society for Child
Development on 10th December 2013. Students of Nursery section attended the picnic and
enjoyed very much.

A Winter carnival which was organized by “Tamana- NaiDisha”, VasantVihar on 18th Dec. 2013
at British High Commissioner‟s Residence 2, RajajiMarg, New Delhi. VTC products were exhibited &
sold there.

Our school participated in The Aanchal Ability Mela which was organized by Aanchal Special
school, KotilyaMarg, Chankyapuri, New Delhi on 19th and 20th Dec. 2013.

The Festival of Christmas was celebrated in our school on 24th Dec. 2013. All students came in
their party wear and enjoyed the Christmas party. Muffins and Toffees were distributed on the
occasion.

Parent Teacher Meeting of second semester was conducted on 28th Dec. 2013.

A prayer meeting was organized on Maharaniji‟s birthday on 9th Jan. 2014.
Mrs.ShyamaliMukerjee and Mrs. Sarvat Amin Aggarwal and all staff members were present in the
prayer meeting.

School reopened after winter vacations for students on 13th Jan. 2014. We celebrated Lohri
festival in school. Peanuts, popcorn and rewariwas distributed to all students and staff members.

Republic Day was celebrated in our school on 24rd Jan. 2014. National flag was hosted by
Araniya in the presence of our Hon‟ble Secretary Mrs. Shyamali Mukherjee, Mr. VinodWazir and
Mrs. ShivaniWazir. Students of our school from Elementary Group, Jr. Group, Sr. Group, VTC,
Respite and Early intervention performed various programs which was appreciated by all.
Prashad was distributed among all students and staff members.

Through Yuvraniji‟s contact a film on various activities of school was shot by Ms. Amana Ahmed and
Mr. Sajid on 29th Jan. 2014.

Parents Teacher Meeting was organized on 25th Jan. 2014.

A stall was arranged by ARUMIM at “SurajKundMela” from 1st to 14th Feb. 2014 and our VTC
products were exhibited and the total sale of Rs. 6832/- was made.

A “Hawan” on the occasion of BasantPanchmi was organized on 4th Feb 2014. Mr. V.S.Raju with
other staff members participated in the pooja. Parshad was distributed to all.

Spring Fair was organized by Janmadhayam at Australian High Commission on 8 th Feb 2014. Our
VTC products were exhibited & sold.

Globe Teacher Training Workshop was organized by Department of Environment, Govt. of NCT of
Delhi at Indian Social Institute, 10, Institutional Area, Lodhi Road, N.D. on 11th and 12th Feb. 2014.
The workshop was attended by Mrs. Aruna Sharma.

From 17th to 19th Feb. 2014 three guests, Mr. Ryan, Ms. Marisa and Ms. Alexis from Star
Academy, California, U.S.A. visited us with the main objective of sharing expertise and
experiences. A school visit with a cultural show by our students was organized on 17th Feb.On the
18thof Feb. interactive activities for students of elementary group and senior group was organized
with the Star Academy Teachers. The post-lunch session was arranged with the teachers. It was a
learning experience. Annual Painting competition was organized on 19th Feb. and our guests along
with other visitors attended the painting competition.

A Craft Bazar was organized by AkshayPratisthan at the British High Commissioner‟s residence on
19th Feb. 2014. Our VTC products were exhibited there and the total sale of Rs. 20,290/- was
made.

Pallavanjali organized an educational camp for two days, „The Art as Therapy Camp 2014‟ at
Pallavanjali, Sohna Road, Gurgaon on 21st and 22nd March 2014. Two students, Moh. Saddan
and Najeeb Ahmed participated in the camp with Art teacher, Mr. Budh Singh.

Parents Teacher Meeting was organized on 22nd Feb. 2014.

A picnic-cum-educational visit to National Science Museum, PragatiMaidan was organized for VTC
Boys and Senior Boys on 11th March 2014.

A picnic-cum-educational visit to National Zoological Park was organized for VTC Girls & Junior
Girls on 12th March 2014.

A picnic-cum-educational visit to Craft Museum, PragtiMaidan was organized for Elementary
group, Junior Boy's group, Early Intervention and Respite care on 13th March 2014.

Holi festival was celebrated at our school on 14th March 2014. All students enjoyed very much.

Kinesiology & Adaptive Physical Activity Workshop for parents or caregiver was organized by
Pallavanjali at Sohna Road, Gurgaon on 16th March 2014. It was headed by Dr. Rebecca Lytle,
Kinesiologist from California State University, USA. 2 students, Areeb and Mahima participated in
the workshop with their mothers, free of cost.

Kinesiology & Adaptive Physical Activity Workshop for professionals, working in the field of
special needs was organized by Pallavanjali at Sohna Road, Gurgaon on 19th March 2014. It was
headed by Dr. Rebecca Lytle, Kinesiologist from California State University, USA. 2 Special
Educators, Mrs. Aruna Sharma and Ms. ManpreetKaur went there to attended the workshop.


PTM was organized on 22nd March 2014. Annual Reports were given to parents and TLM
exhibition was also organized for the parents in the respective class.
5th Annual SangeetNrityaUtsav 2014 of India World Cultural Forum was co-hosted by PHD
Chamber at PHD House, Siri Institutional Area, August KrantiMarg, New Delhi on 22 nd March
2014. The Utsav was dedicated to “Preventing Child Abuse”. 10 students went there to attend the
programme with Mrs. Mayank Singh Sharma.

A Visit, by 80 students of Rufaida College of Nursing Faculty of Nursing JamiaHamdard on 17th,
18th,22nd and 23rd April 2013. Mrs. RachalSangita took the around.
51 students of Social Work from BhimRaoAmbedkar College visited our school with their lecturer,
Mr. Avtar on 26th July 2013.

15 foreigner students from International Education of Students, Service Learning Office, U.S.A.,
visited our school with their Co-ordinator Ms. Sunita on 31st July 2013.

Ms. PratimaZingam, past president of Innerwheel club Delhi Main, visited our centre with 15
members of Innerwheel club for plantation and donates some seeds of plants and seasonal
vegetables on 30th Aug 2013.

30 students from Department of Teacher Training and Non-formal Education Institute of Advance
Studies, JamiaMillia, visited our centre with their Lecturer Ms. Iram on 26th Sep. 2013.







30 students of Rufadia College of Nursing, Faculty of Nursing, JamiaHamdard University,
Hamdard Nagar, Delhi visited our school on 18th Nov. 2013.
29 students of D.S.E program, 1st year from N.I.M.H., Aliyavar Jung, Lajpat Nagar, New Delhi

University visited the Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy department on 23rd
October 2013

Appointment taken for 30 students from NIMH for their IQ Certificate and Railway
concession Certificate

Social Worker attended a consultation meet on Intellectual Challenges of childhood on
21th Nov 2013 at India International centre Organized by Amrit Foundation.

Social Worker attended a National Conference for promoting partnership for refugees on
19th Dec 2013 at India Habitat Centre organized by UNHCR in collaboration with
BOSCO. Given slidshow presentation about DSWSC.

Education Kit – Submitted document of 3 children of okhla centre school to NIMH to
receive Educational Kit ( Approx cost of the kit will be Rs 3000/-to 4000/-


Disability Certificates- 41 students underwent IQ assessment for Disability certificate at
NIMH from 28th Nov 2013 to 10th Jan 2014

Networking with IOB Bank regarding opening of joint account of school students for


Organized a Camp on screening and identification for person with disabilities on 14th
March, 2014 in which 42 cases were registered.

To create awareness about the camp met MLA‟s office, Okhla and Badarpur, Shaurya
special school, YMCA Special school, Real View Public School, Panchsheel school,
Gurudwara committee at Badarpur were personally visited and also the camp was
published by handbills and pamphlets.

NDT Workshop was conducted from 24th March to 26th March 2014 by
Loganathan.Guruswami, PT C/ NDT Advanced NDT Certified (USA) from Mumbai 19
students participated in the workshop.
