As you are aware, a team of specialists, led by MEGA (Morris Environmental & Groundwater Alliances) has been
appointed by the Department of Environmental Affairs and Development Planning (DEA&DP) to develop an
Environmental Management Framework for the Saldanha Bay area, including a small portion of the Berg River
Municipality. Chand Environmental Consultants (Chand) are undertaking the stakeholder engagement for this
project.

The advertisement relating to the availability of the draft EMF document has been placed in the week end media
(2 February 2013) and the local community newspaper (6 February 2013). As there have been additional
amendments required to the maps in the document, it will only be delivered to the libraries listed in the
advertisement on 7 and 8 February 2013. In addition, since the last advertisement was placed on 6 February,
please note that the correct date for closure of the comment period is Friday, 8 April 2013. The document and
maps will be available online www.chand.co.za/saldanhaemf.asp ,for public review and comment and in the
following local public libraries.
