We are an organisation that likes to be creative, we seek to continually improve and are embracing new technology in the latest version of the website. The new site can be accessed and operated via laptops, tablets and smartphones as well as your desktop computer. ECG in Final 3 at the OPEN COURSES PROFILE: General Practice Awards 2014 ECG became a finalist at the General Practice Awards for the Training Provider of the Year 2014, along with Prostate Cancer Care UK and Stirling University, who were the winners of the award. VICTORIA Have you missed your Mandatory Training or need an individual member of staff trained? Open Courses are available for: Basic Life Support, use of a Defibrillator and Anaphylaxis. Sessions run for 3½ hours at a charge of £25 per person, payable in advance. Other subjects offered are: Venepuncture and 12 Lead ECG Recording & Interpretation. CPD certificates of attendance are issued. Chaperone training, Fire Safety Awareness and Equality & Diversity are all available online (Please see online update overleaf). The training is designed for all Clinical staff and will be 2½ hour duration. At the end of the training course delegates will be able to: Recognise the importance of current evidence based infection control measures Describe the ways that infections can be spread. Discuss employee responsibilities of infection control measures. Maintain high standards of personal and environmental hygiene standards. Protect themselves and others from the risk of infections. Demonstrate effective hand cleaning technique. Adapt their skills and knowledge in infection prevention and control into the working environment To book or make an enquiry, please contact the ECG office on 0845 423 8993 or email [email protected] Victoria has worked with ECG for over two years as a trainer, but has worked within education for the last eighteen years, training children and adults alike in different sectors and disciplines. In 2007 she qualified as a Podiatrist, and having worked clinically in the public and private sectors, she returned to delivering education in 2010 within the NHS. Adding coaching and mentoring qualifications to her remit, Victoria now delivers a wide range of soft skills courses, which aim to develop others both personally and professionally. Courses delivered for ECG include: Conflict Resolution, Customer Care, Assertiveness, and Equality and Diversity. Recently adding BLS and Infection Control to her remit, Victoria continues to broaden her training portfolio. CLINICAL GOVERNANCE AT ECG Our Clinical Governance group includes: Our Clinical Director; A local GP; Registered Paramedic; A Registered Nurse/ Nurse Educator; Business Quality Assurance. At the last meeting in February the Moving & Handling training was reviewed. There will be some adjustments made to ensure the content continues to support GP Practices appropriately. Plans for Continuing Professional Development for ECG’s trainers were reviewed. Potential new online course developments were also considered. OnLine UPDATE An online Chaperone course user said recently: To make your learning experience more convenient we are taking additional subjects on line. We understand your time for training is limited and that people learn at different rates; so why not access the more theoretical subjects via a tablet such as an iPad, a Smartphone or a PC at a time that suits you? “Information is presented in a format that makes the various aspects of the subject easy to take in and remember.
