The Canadian Network for Environmental Education and Communication/ Le réseau canadien pour d'éducation et de communication relatives à l’environnement (EECOM) Strategic and Organizational Plan 2015-2020 The Canadian Network for Environmental Education and Communication/ Le réseau canadien pour d'éducation et de communication relatives à l’environnement (EECOM) is Canada’s only national, bilingual, charitable network for environmental learning. Vision: Canadians are environmentally literate, engaged in environmental stewardship and contribute to a healthy, sustainable future for all Mission: The Canadian Network for Environmental Education and Communication (EECOM) works strategically and collaboratively to advance environmental learning for all Canadians Goals 1. Effectively demonstrate and promote the value of EL 2. Strengthen and expand a Canada-wide network for EL 3. Build capacity of EL associations, organisations and practitioners to engage Canadians in EL 4. Effectively demonstrate and promote the value of environmental learning a) Lead, coordinate or participate in national initiatives (programs, policies, campaigns) that position environmental learning as an essential component of formal, non-formal and informal education across Canada b) Facilitate the dissemination of new and existing environmental learning research, benchmarks and standards to environmental learning associations, organisations and practitioners c) Promote and recognise the contributions of environmental learning associations, organisations and practitioners in formal, non-formal and informal environmental learning sectors 2. Strengthen and a) Facilitate an increased level of dialogue, networking expand a Canada- and collaborations amongst environmental learning wide network for practitioners associations and organisations in Canada environmental learning b) Actively engage associations, organisations and practitioners representing new sectors with an interest in environmental learning Activities ● Facilitate process to advance an Environmental Education Act in Canada in collaboration with provincial/territorial environmental associations ● Participate in national environmental learning initiatives including expert panels and member-led initiatives ● Collaborate to promote and disseminate environmental learning publications, specifically Canadian Journal of Environmental Education (CJEE), Regards - Recherches – Réflexions and Green Teacher Magazine ● Host poster sessions program at EECOM’s conference ● Create other opportunities for sharing such as through a EECOM newsletter ● Animate EECOM annual awards program ● Pursue relationships with environmental learning related authorities such as the Canadian Ministers of Education Council ● Plan EECOM annual conference program ● Facilitate networking amongst Canadian environmental learning associations and practitioners ● Formalize collaborative arrangements with environmental learning associations, organisations and other relevant partners ● Connect with other EE-related networks through our visible presence at their conferences ● Pursue cultural diversity and inclusiveness initiatives ● Compile and share best practices for inclusiveness in relation to conference and other event participation 2 The Canadian Network for Environmental Education and Communication Le réseau canadien pour d'éducation et de communication relatives à l’environnement The Canadian Network for Environmental Education and Communication/ Le réseau canadien pour d'éducation et de communication relatives à l’environnement (EECOM) Strategic and Organizational Plan 2015-2020 Goals Objectives 3. Build capacity of a) Support the ongoing development of environmental provincial/territorial environmental learning associations; learning environmental learning organisations; and organisations associations, that have an interest in environmental learning which is organisations and consistent with EECOM’s vision practitioners to engage Canadians in environmental learning b) Offer professional development opportunities to individual EL practitioners 4.
