Please make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep and that they
are fed a healthy breakfast each morning. It is imperative that all
3rd, 4th and 5th grade students arrive ON TIME to school on their
testing dates.
Kuehnle will be a closed campus to visitors
(including lunch times) on April 20th, 21st and 22nd
for ALL students due to STAAR testing.
NEWS FROM THE NURSE:
A good nights rest along with a good breakfast is the best prescription to ensure your child will have a productive day at school. Breaking the overnight
fast is what fuels the brain making it ready to learn. Here are some ideas for
days when a sit down breakfast is not feasible. Some of these foods can be
eaten as your child is walking out the door or during the car ride to school.
Please remember that eating is not allowed on the school bus.
Hard boiled eggs
Celery sticks with peanut, almond or apple butter
Cheese sticks, cubes, wedges or rounds
Rolled up deli meat
Fruit-banana, grapes, apple
Dry cereal in a zip lock bag
Our school cafeteria serves a nutritious breakfast until 8:15 AM daily.
RSVPs This Month
Don’t forget to RSVP for these events so that you don’t have to wait in line at the front office to get a visitor’s
badge. Use the RSVP buttons on Kuehnle’s web page and your badge will be waiting for you when you arrive!

COUNSELOR’S CORNER
The STAAR Test is fast approaching for our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students! They
are all well-prepared. However, test anxiety is when a student excessively worries
about doing well on a test. The following are tips on reducing test taking anxiety.
Being well prepared for the test is the best way to reduce test taking anxiety.
The Color Run
was a blast!
Thanks to PTO
and everyone
who pledged and
participated.
Try to maintain a positive attitude while preparing for the test and during the
test.
Exercising for a few days before the test will help reduce stress.
Eat a healthy breakfast.
Get a good night's sleep before the test.
Show up to class early so you won't have to worry about being late.
Stay relaxed, if you begin to get nervous take a few deep breaths slowly to
relax yourself and then get back to work.
Read the directions slowly and carefully.
Skim through the test so that you have a good idea how to pace yourself.
College Awareness Day
April 8
Students are invited to
join their teachers and
administrators by wearing a college t-shirt to
school.
In March we learned
about the traditions of
Texas Tech.
What college will we
learn about in April?
Thanks to everyone
who made our first
Kuehnle Hoedown a
huge success. A
special thanks to
our PE Coaches Mrs. Altendorf, Ms.
Dobb, Coach Keith,
and Miss Locker for organizing, decorating and teaching
all of the dances.
Yee Haw!
Don't worry about how fast other people finish their test; just concentrate on
your own test.
If you don't know an answer to a question, skip it for the time being (come back
to it later if you have time), and remember that you don't have to always get every
question right to do well on the test.
Focus on the question at hand. Don't let your mind wander on other things.
If you're still experiencing test anxiety after following these tips, seek help from
your school counselor, Mrs. Birden. 
