It is the home of Xtreme, the zones’ premiere club program and home to approximately 7,000 youth soccer players from all tiers and skills abilities. Our mission is to ensure all youth who wish to play organised soccer have the chance to do so and to inspire our youth to a lifelong active, inclusive and team play environment. As a not-for-profit society, we are committed to providing the widest opportunities for our existing and potential participants, as well as providing support in the most effective and appropriate way for current and future players, parents, volunteers, and member community leagues. Position Summary An exciting full-time permanent opportunity has arisen to join and lead our dynamic team. The EMSA north is seeking an inspirational, experienced and open minded professional for the position of Executive Director. The Executive Director is responsible for the overall management and leadership of the day-to-day activities of the organization and its staff and oversees the growth and development of north side soccer in line with the EMSA mains’ and Alberta Soccer Associations’ strategic objectives. The position is accountable to Board of Directors with specific reporting to the EMSA north President and is responsible for the supervision and leadership of 3 paid staff and 2 referee assignors while working closely with the President and Board of Directors and 28 volunteer soccer directors. The position is also responsible to ensure that administrative, soccer development, zone referee requirements, community development and business interests are adhered to. The Executive Director is additionally responsible to ensure the smooth running of two annual soccer tournaments and ensure that all Bingos, Casino and Raffle Ticket activities adhere to AGLC rules and regulations and that sponsors are properly recognized. The position has daily interaction with the EMSA main and is guided by the mandates of the EMSA, the Alberta Soccer and the Canadian Soccer association and the Long Term Player Development model. Specific Responsibilities Demonstrate the principles of professional leadership by maintaining and enhancing relationships with the community soccer directors, coaches and other volunteers while serving the organizations primary objectives. Page 2 of 3 Thursday, April 09, 2015 Coordinate with the President and the Board of Directors to develop, implement, manage, and monitor the strategic plan, develop and recommend an annual Operating Plan and ensure that the resources, staff and operational plans are aligned accordingly. Provide strong, open minded and inspirational leadership and direction to staff and ensure the continued development and management of a professional and efficient organization. Develop and maintain a positive work environment for staff providing them with the motivation and confidence to feel empowered in carrying out their responsibilities and achieving objectives. Ensure that adequate staff support exists to conduct, coordinate, and implement Board of Director and program partner decisions. Member relations Maintain a strong customer-focused approach when working with community and membership partners. Continually highlight and demonstrate the benefits and services of the EMSA north. The position is responsible for the continual improvement of appropriate programming to support the objectives and needs of the membership and the wider soccer community of the EMSA and the Alberta Soccer Association. Board relations Cultivate a robust and transparent working relationship with the Board of Directors to ensure open effective communication. Attend monthly Board and Director Meetings with regard to operational activity and plans to support the delivery of programming necessary to achieve the strategic objectives and coordinate relevant recommendations on all programming for approval by the Board. Ensure that the appropriate resources, tools and information are available to assist the Board members in timely effective decision making. Provide regular updates on the progress of the strategic objectives and facilitate annual reviews for any Board approved revisions. In conjunction with the Vice President, Treasurer, Xtreme Director and accounting professional, facilitate the annual budgeting process for approval by the Board. Financial Management Work closely with the Treasurer to ensure that all financial and accounting functions are completed in a timely fashion. Oversee control of expenditures within approved budget parameters. Ensure that funding contribution agreements and associated reporting protocols are completed on time. Identify and ensure timely submission of any appropriate grant funding applications that will support EMSA north soccer programming. Experience/Qualifications/Skills • A perceptive and open leader with the ability to set clear priorities, delegate, and lead by example when necessary. • Highly professional and confident individual able to provide credible leadership for staff and the EMSA north. • A strong skill set in the use of Microsoft Office programs, particularly Excel, Access and MS Word. • A strong aptitude and a quick ability to learn other software such as Wordpress, Mailchip, • Excellent relationship building skills with an ability to communicate and work effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders. • Flexible and open minded individual with the ability to motivate and drive positive change. • Ability to devote full time attention to responsibilities and objectives and to accomplish these obligations with integrity, loyalty, honesty and dedication. • Experience in the successful development and execution of strategic plans. • Certificate in Administrative / Office admin or equivalent work related experience • A working knowledge of Robert's Rules of Order • At least 4 years of professional experience in leading administration staff • Preferred knowledge and practical experience of soccer structure in Edmonton • Prior experience ideal; particularly oversight of an organized sport preferred • Annual CPIC (Criminal Records) clearance • Fluency in English • Valid driver’s license Remuneration The position includes a generous benefit package and a competitive salary commensurate with experience for a role of this nature in a not for profit organisation.
