WARBLER WALK, Fri. May 1, 8-10am, Edison Woods MetroPark, 8111 Smokey Rd. Berlin Heights. As the spring migration begins we will take a walk through the woods to find warblers and other songbirds! Please bring binoculars and dress for the weather. TRAIL TRANSFORMATION, Sat. May 2, 10-11am, Castalia Quarry MetroPark, 8404 SR 101, Castalia. Come see how a trail transforms throughout the year with a monthly walk on the same trail! Bring a camera to document the changes. DOGGIE MEET N GREET, Sat. May 2, 1:30-3:30pm, Osborn MetroPark, Erie MetroBark Park, 3109 Hull Rd. Huron. Join licensed dog trainer Jessica Castello and learn how to properly introduce your dog to others dogs and new people. Training will begin at 2pm with free play before and after. All dogs MUST be registered at the Bark Park prior to classes. Owners can fill out an application online or at the Frost Center. Rain barrels are a great way to collect FREE rainwater for use in the garden while helping to manage stormwater which can cause negative impacts on the environment. Did you know a rain barrel will save most homeowners 1300 gallons of water during peak summer months? A rain barrel is a water collection system that is connected to a downspout to collect runoff from your roof. Rain barrels are generally made from 55 gal drums and plumbing fittings that can be found at your local hardware store and are easy to construct. Participants will learn the benefits of rain barrels and make their own to take home. The cost is $45 and includes all parts and tools. All registrations must be made and paid for in advance of workshop date.
