Goal 1: To Expand and Enhance the City’s
Housing Options
The City of Gaylord will progressively promote a mix of housing types that serve
all current and potential residents regardless of age, income level, or race. In addition, the City will actively encourage development of existing available land areas in Gaylord and explore the potential for growth outside of Gaylord’s existing
boundaries.

Goal 2: To Complete the Downtown
Revitalization
The City of Gaylord will progressively promote the rebirth of the downtown. Gaylord’s downtown is paramount to the economic success of the City. The Comprehensive Plan stated “An overall design framework should be established that celebrates Gaylord’s history and small town character.” The City of Gaylord will progressively promote redevelopment of the downtown area will continue in order to
spur economic growth, enhance aesthetics, and crease a sense of place.

Goal 3: To Address Growing Security and
Crime Issues
The City of Gaylord will continue to provide timely and efficient police services
that give residents peace of mind and a sense of wellbeing, and achieve a level of
service that exceeds expectations. The City will also become actively engaged in
delivering, communicating, and advancing current and future programs requested
by the public and deemed by the Council to be in the best interest of the residents
to reduce crime through police enforcement.

Goal 4: To Establish a Unique City Identity
and Brand
The City of Gaylord will actively work to bring about an existence where residents,
visitors, and business owners are proud of the city in which they live, visit, and work.
The City will develop an awareness of and appreciation for the features that set us
apart from other communities. These features include our rich history, the farming
community, Michael Foods as the leader in egg production, Lake Titlow, our park
system, and the Gaylord Area Aquatic Center.

The City of Gaylord will actively work to deliver affordable, timely, and sustainable

The City will work to inspire the community and citizens to become more actively
engaged with the City’s happenings and projects. The City believes that positive
relations with the community will lead to a greater Gaylord.
