A glimpse into history
Ampeg history is filled with amazing guitar amps that are still highly sought after by players and studios across the
globe. From the multi-instrument inputs on very early Ampeg designs to such legendary models as the
Reverberocket and the Echo Twin (the first ever guitar amp with reverb), Ampeg guitar amps have always been at
the forefront of the industry. For our new GVT Series guitar amplifiers, we were particularly inspired by our models
from the early „70s. The V4 and VT-22 were extremely popular thanks to a legion of superstars that played them,
including Keith Richards, who used a VT-22 for the classic Stones albums, Sticky Fingers and Exile on Main Street. A
dedicated team of inspired musicians created these amps, including Rich Mandella, Roger Cox and Bob Rufakhar.
Their passion lives on with all the vintage gear that still rocks today. Now, with GVT, an incredible group of engineers
have come together with the same scope of vision and same commitment to impeccable guitar tone.
“Straight Up Tone” really does say it all. Sure… we build them tough, we build them so working guys can afford them
and we build them to look great. But none of this would mean anything if they didn‟t sound amazing. Welcome to the
