Dear Prospective Member,
Thank you for your interest in Florida Blue Key leadership honorary society. Florida Blue Key
is the University of Florida’s oldest and most distinguished leadership organization. In addition
to planning and producing Homecoming, Gator Growl, and the Speech and Debate Tournament,
Florida Blue Key conducts many projects serving both the University of Florida and the
Gainesville community. A successful applicant must demonstrate exemplary leadership and
service to the University of Florida. Diversity of involvement and experience are important
criteria for acceptance into Florida Blue Key. Florida Blue Key selects leaders who have made a
significant contribution to the overall development of student life at the University of Florida.
The following are requirements for all applicants:
1. Be a current full-time student at the University of Florida, or if graduating, enrolled in the
number of classes required to meet graduation requirements.
2. Have completed sixty (60) hours of college credits (excluding current enrollment),
twenty-four (24) of which must have been earned at the University of Florida.
3. Have participated and demonstrated leadership in extracurricular activities at the
University of Florida.
4. Have at least a 2.0 grade point average.
A complete application contains the following:


Resume with signed statement granting the Student Activities staff permission to certify
GPA and hours completed
$50 Application Fee
Resume: Please follow the format provided in the attached resume, including of all the
information located at the top and bottom of the sample resume. Your full name, including
middle name, should be typed on your resume as you wish it to appear on your initiation
certificate. Please limit the resume to one legal sized piece of paper.
Interview: When you submit your application, please sign up for an interview time. Interviews
will be held on Saturday March 28th and Sunday March 29th at the Law School in Room 285A.
Business attire is suggested.

Application Fee: When you submit your application, please submit a $50 application fee to our
Office Administrator, Sharon Connell. Any checks should be written to “Florida Blue Key.” This
fee pays for the administrative cost of your application as well as the introductory, pre-tapping
reception scheduled for Wednesday, April 1st. Candidates for membership are encouraged to
attend the reception, and business attire is suggested for this event. More information will be
emailed to all applicants.
Community Service Event: Florida Blue Key will be holding Florida Blue Key Service Day on
Friday, March 27th. The event consists of multiple volunteer opportunities in the Gainesville
community. A signup sheet including volunteer locations and times will be available upon
submitting your application. All applicants are strongly encouraged to attend. The volunteer
event is a great way to meet active Florida Blue Key members prior to the selection process.
Applications are due by 5:00 PM on Friday, March 20th in the Florida Blue Key trailer
located just west of the J. Wayne Reitz Student Union. All applicants will be notified of their
Florida Blue Key membership by email. If you are selected, you will be invited to attend an
initiation banquet on Saturday, April 25th.
