Franklin County Children’s Task Force Parent Education All classes are FREE and will be held @ the Franklin County Children’s Task Force, 113 Church Street, Farmington Pre-registration Required ~ Call: 778-6960 **Free Childcare Provided For All Classes** Active Parenting Now– A Six-Week Parent Education Class for Parents with Children ages 5-12 Lessons Include: The Active Parent ~ Winning Cooperation ~ Responsibility and Discipline ~ Understanding and Redirecting Misbehavior ~ Building Courage, Character, and Self Esteem ~ Communication Skills and Active Listening ~Building Respect in the home ~ Problem Solving Dates: Thursdays, July 23, 30, August 6, 13, 20, 27 Time: 5:30-7:00 pm 1, 2, 3 Magic & More 1,2,3 Magic– Three-Week workshop for Parents with Children Ages 2-12 1-2-3 Magic can help parents to manage difficult behavior in children from 2-12 years of age. STOP Behaviors: Things you want your child to stop doing. Many everyday issues, minor, such as whining, throwing tantrums, or shouting. Use 1-2-3 counting procedure. START Behaviors: Things you want your child to start doing. Positive activities such as cleaning their room, going to bed, or doing homework. Use praise, simple requests, consequences, docking system, timer, charting, or 1-2-3 counting variation. 1-2-3 Magic offers parenting solutions that are easy-to-learn and that WORK! We are offering several workshops for 1, 2, 3 Magic & More 1,2,3 Magic throughout the summer! 1, 2, 3 Magic– 4 hour workshop for Parents with Children Ages 2-12 This workshop is to give parents the tools they need to engage their child in effective disciplining techniques by encouraging positive behavior, independence and self-esteem. The 1,2,3 Magic program also helps parents to manage difficult behaviors in children ages 2-12. Date: Time: Nurturing Parenting– Saturday, June 27 9:00-12:00 p.m. A Ten-Week Parent Education Class for Parents with Children of any age Want to be a More Successful Parent? No one is born a parent. It's something we learn growing up, and sometimes we need extra help learning how to be successful parents. In the Nurturing Parenting Program (NPP), you will learn new skills and attitudes important in caring for yourself, your children and the world around you. Join us for this nationally recognized parent program and the opportunity for you to learn skills and strategies and meet other parents of young children! Dates: Tuesdays, June 2, 9, 16, 23, 30, July 7, 14, 21, 28, & August 4 Time: 5:30 -7:00 p.m. 1, 2, 3, 4 Parents– A Three-Week workshop for Parents with Children Ages 1-4 Through this program you will learn skills that will help you develop cooperation, responsibility and self-esteem in your children.
