Mark Reno will highlight some major business ethics issues and, through an Ivey Business School case study, show how to apply sound principles of ethical reasoning and decision-making that result in responsible courses of action. The second part of the day focuses on ethics and leadership. Mark starts by sharing the results of Ivey Business School’s research on leader character; then, leads discussion on how you, personally and your board – as leaders – can apply “good character” to enhance your decision-making process, the results of which may have impact at the organizational, system, and societal levels. This committee is a legislated committee in most provinces, which reflects the importance of its role in contributing to the sound governance. Learn about various types of audits that take place within a credit union. *Required course for Level C completion Corporate Members: $319 Pay As You Go: $382.80 REGISTER GOVERNING CREDIT RISK 1:30 pm – 4:30 pm Facilitated by: Ed Sarnecki CUDA level: C Corporate Members: $319 Pay As You Go: $382.80 In this half-day course, you will learn about the role of the board and management in determining and implementing the types of credit available from and level of credit risk for the credit union. You will also learn about the external factors that impact credit risk, such as economic factors (interest rates, house prices, consumer indebtedness, unemployment) as well as internal factors (the competency of staff, the capability of processes, the availability of liquidity and the amount of capital). *Required course for Level C completion REGISTER MEET YOUR FACILITATORS MARK RENO / MA, MBA, MEd, PhD LEARN MORE Mark Reno is an expert in the areas of executive leadership and leader character, business ethics & responsibility, and strategic management. As Ivey Business School’s first post-doctoral research fellow, Mark conducted world-leading research into the nature of good character in business leadership. As an adjunct professor at Ivey, he developed and facilitates Ivey’s HBA course in business ethics, and the business ethics course for the CIRI/Ivey Investment Relations Officer Certification Program. Previously, Mark developed and facilitated Strategic Management for Credit Union Professionals for Dalhousie University, as well as, numerous other CUSOURCE® courses in managerial-leadership development, commercial and consumer lending, and board governance. In addition, Mark developed, and facilitated across the USA, a comprehensive, leadership development program for Alcan. This integrated, three-level governance program is comprised of online courses and facilitated workshops, which can be delivered in-house to your own board or as “public” sessions with directors from other credit unions.
