Dear Sir/Madam:
Who is Five:15?
Five:15 is an Atlanta based,
Hip-Hop music group that
consist of two members, Eric
“KOH” Jackson (Founder) and
Troy Byrd.
We formally invite you to join efforts with our team, Five:15 music
group and management, to peacefully protest the violence that’s been
targeting mainly young, African American males at the hands of police
officers all over this great nation. We understand that this is a systemic
problem that African Americans as a people have been faced with for
years now. This issue began in slavery and has since taken on different
debilitating forms that have left many communities in shambles.
Although African Americans are not the only victims to this issue, we
understand that egregious acts performed by ill-behaved police officers
have also touched the lives of white Americans, poor Americans, old
Americans, young Americans, and other minority Americans, which we
(Five:15) collectively call OUR KIND.

Although OUR KIND suffers unjustly, sometimes, while in the custody
of police; young, African American males have been affected
disproportionately in comparison. Lately, many news stations have been
projecting horrifying scenes of police brutality that have involved many
young, African American males dying! And to make matters worse,
these officers perform these horrendous acts with remarkable sangfroid.
They are murdering future leaders, future teachers, and future presidents
like its okay! Where’s the humanity? Five:15 will not be a part of that
number. In fact, they choose to be a part of a number—a movement-that espouses positivity, unity and consciousness.
We need all audaciously abusive law officers to accept change for the
better, for they are expected to provide all communities with protection
and maintain public order; we do not want them to murder innocent
people or to incite chaos anymore.
Please help Five:15 communicate this message: Our lives matter. Black
Lives matter. It’s time to add momentum to the movement.
Thanks for your time.

STOP KILLING OUR KIND!!!
May 15th at 5:15 PM we are calling for all law enforcement officers
across the nation to take 5 minutes and 15 seconds to think about the
pledge they made to uphold the law and not break the law. We ask that
our police officers remember their responsibility to protect and serve our
communities and not kill our innocent citizens.
We urge those who are on the wrong side of the law to take 5 minutes
and 15 seconds to seriously think about the consequences behind
breaking the law, and how one bad decision can quickly turn into a tragic
situation!
We are calling for state and local politicians and legislators to think about
the platform they were entrusted to bring forth bills that benefit and
protect our citizens, and the power in the voice they have to speak up for
those who don't have a voice of their own.
We are calling for all radio and television networks to “go on pause” for
5 minutes and 15 seconds to allow our minds to resonate on how to push
this movement to a tangible, positive outcome.
We urge our President to take 5 minutes and 15 seconds to address our
nation about the senseless killings at the hands of law enforcement
officers in our Country.
In honor of those innocent lives taken, we ask all business owners and
managers to turn off their lights, and all motorist to turn on their
headlights and honk their horns!
We ask all pedestrians to please stop whatever they are doing and put
their hands up to signify their choice to surrender to this cause. There is
power in numbers, so we urge you to join us for the FIVE:15 Initiative
on May 15, 2015 at 5:15 PM. Will you be in that number?
