Item 4: Treasurer’s Report





Current status of District Funds - Andrew Zweibel
o Financial Report: In good standing
Remaining Expenses for 2014-2015
o PO Box & Storage Unit Rental Cost for June
o Expenses to send Andrew to State Board Meeting
o State Assessment ($0.85 per entry to the state)
Solo/Ensemble Medals will be arriving on or about May 18, 2015 and can be picked up from
Andrew Zweibel
Final budget will be e-mailed out once finalized
Financial Report will be submitted to the State next weekend
Item 5: Announcements, etc.

Item 6: Music Advocacy Issues with FBA and FSMA

District Designed End of Course Exams (DDEOC) has been cancelled for this year
Item 7: Unfinished Business

Adjudicator Evaluations
o Not many were completed/submitted for Concert Band MPA
o Jazz Band MPA was ok
Item 8: Committee Reports

DCMEA Honor Band
o Contact Elissa Vento-Tatum if you are interested in assisting
o

Current volunteers: Malena Calle (Southwood Middle), Brent Mounger (NWSA), Wesley
Mejia (iMater Charter)
Clinics Committee
o Contact Brent Mounger to assist
o Committee would work with Bryan Petorak to create Professional Development Sessions
in conjunction with the four FBA meetings to obtain PD points
o District members would complete a survey for topics to be discussed at the sessions
Plaques/Medals
o Order plaques/medals in advance for MPA’s so we do not run out
Item 9: New Business


2015 Marching Band MPA
o Current date is October 24, 2015 with a rain-out date of October 31, 2015
o Current location is Miami-Dade North Campus – Traz Powell Stadium
 Membership is asked to vote to move the 2015 Marching MPA to FIU South
Campus on November 14, 2015
 Pros: No testing conflicts; no FMBC competition that weekend; no
holiday conflicts; possible increase in attendance
 Malena calls to question to have the 2015 Marching MPA moved to FIU
South Campus on 11/14/15 – Unanimously Passed
Dade County Alumni Band
o Brent suggest to create a Dade County Alumni Band to perform exhibition at the 2015
Marching Band MPA
o Anyone interested in assisting with this, please contact him


Sight Reading: Refrain from using the small folio/octavo size marches
o Difficult to read, especially with students with special needs
o It is the directors’ responsibility to inform the District about accommodating students with
special needs
