Flying Pig Marathon Spectator Party Guide Sunday, May 3, 2015 Friends and family wanting to catch a glimpse of their half marathoner or marathoner along the course will want to visit The Subway® Spectator Party Zones The Subway® Party Zones will serve as a hub for spectators to show their support and enthusiasm while enjoying complimentary snacks and refreshments. S p e c t a t o r V i e w i n g a n d P a r t y Z o n e s th 7 Street & Central Avenue (Marathon Mile 4.5 Half-Marathon Mile 4.5) East End on Delta Avenue (Marathon Mile 21) th Getting to the Party Zone on 7 Street & Central Avenue is an easy walk and allows you plenty of time to drive to the next Party Zones at Springer School and East End on Delta for marathoners, the casino area for half-marathoners, or directly back to the finish area to meet up with the finishers. th To get to the Party Zone at 7 and Central from the start line, walk 7 blocks north on Central Ave. From downtown hotels or garages, Central Ave is due west. To walk to the Finish Line from this th party zone turn right and head east on 7 to Broadway. Turn right on Broadway and 7 blocks south will take you to the finish line. The finish line is located in front of US Bank Arena and near Great American Ball Park at the intersection of Broadway & Pete Rose Way approximately 1 mile east of the start line. To get to the final Party Zone at Delta and Eastern Aves at Mile 21, return to Columbia Parkway via Torrence. Turn left onto Columbia Parkway. Turn right at Columbia Square (just east of Delta Ave). Parking is in this lot. Follow the signs along the sidewalks to the East End Party Zone. To get to the finish area from Springer School or East End Party Zones, return to downtown via Columbia Parkway heading west. Take the 3 rd Street exit to access parking in rd one of the downtown garages on 3 Street or Riverfront garages. The finish line is one block south of 3 rd Street. To return to the finish line from the Government Square bus stop, walk 4 blocks south on Walnut to the plaza of Great American Ballpark. To continue spectating by walking see “Viewing the start and downtown course locations.” Or continue onto more party zones. The Casino Area Springer School in O’Bryonville (Marathon Mile 9.8) (Half-Marathon Mile 12) To drive to the next Party Zone at Springer School at Mile 9.8 of the Marathon th course, it is recommended that you take 5 Street (by Fountain Square) and head east th toward Walnut Street. Continue on 5 Street onto Columbia Parkway. Turn left onto Torrence Parkway, turn right on Herrick Ave, and left on Breen Street. Follow the signs to the parking lot at the end of Breen St. Follow the signs along the sidewalks to the Party Zone. Getting to the casino area Party Zone is easy - as is getting back to the finish area to meet up with the finishers. It is recommended that you walk east following the runners on 7th Street toward Sycamore. Turn left on Walnut, Main, or Sycamore to Central Parkway. Right on Central Parkway to Eggleston. Meet your finisher by walking south (toward the river) and following the runners on Eggleston to Pete Rose Way crossing at the intersection into the Victory Party and Reunion in Yeatman’s Cove on the Riverfront. S p e c t a t o r V i e w i n g a n d P a r t y Z o n e s Viewing the Start, Finish, & Downtown course locations Paxton and Wasson (Marathon Mile 12) Spectators wishing to originate their marathon viewing in the Hyde Park/Oakley area will want to visit the Party Zone at the intersection of Paxton Avenue and Wasson Road. Plenty of parking near Hyde Park Plaza. To get to the next Party Zone at Mile 21, East End at Delta Avenue, Click Here. To head directly back to the Finish Line via I-71, Click Here. The start is on Mehring Way between Elm Street and Central Avenue. After the start, go north (toward down-town) on Central Avenue or Elm Street to 7th Street and watch the runners at mile 5. To watch runners in the Half marathon, follow the runners east on 7th to Walnut St. or Main St. and go left (North) to see the runners at the turn around (mile 12) near Walnut Street. Then follow the runners down Eggleston to the finish. When you get to Eggleston and Pete Rose Way be sure to cross the south side of Pete Rose Way. To see and reunite with runners in both the Full and Half, follow the runners to the finish on Pete Rose Way then turn south on Mehring Way (about 200 feet before the finish) to find the Victory Party and re-union area.
