Roger Melanson Minister of Finance & Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure - Province of New Brunswick Roger Luc Melanson, a Liberal, was reelected to the 58th Legislative Assembly on September 22, 2014, to represent the riding of Dieppe. He was sworn in as Minister of Finance and Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure on October 7, 2014. He is Chair of the Board of Management. Mr. Melanson was first elected to the 57th Legislative Assembly on September 27, 2010, to represent the Dieppe-Centre—Lewisville riding. In 2010, he served as the chair of the Liberal Caucus. During the 57th Legislative Assembly, he served as critic for the Department of Finance, the Department of Economic Development (responsible for the Regional Development Corporation, Business New Brunswick, Invest NB and Rural Affairs), the Department of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour, the Department of Government Services and the Francophonie, and for matters related to the New Brunswick Liquor Corporation and the New Brunswick Investment Management Corporation. He was a member of the Legislative Administration Committee, the standing committees on Crown Corporations, Procedure, and Private Bills, and the select committees on Legislative Reform and Point Lepreau. A graduate of Université de Moncton, he has a bachelor’s degree in social science with a major in political science and a minor in business administration. He also holds a master’s degree in public administration. As well, he has a diploma in business development from Babson Executive Education, in Boston. He is a graduate of Clément-Cormier High School. Mr. Melanson has extensive experience. He has worked in economic development, international affairs, and provincial politics, as well as in government at the municipal and provincial levels, and in the community. He served as the director of economic development for the Economic Development Corporation of the City of Dieppe and worked in international business development as Senior Account Executive for the international company Spielo. He has been a political aide and executive assistant for various ministers and a former Premier of New Brunswick. He has an ongoing commitment to his community. He has served on various boards, including those of the Association des anciens, anciennes et amis de l’Université de Moncton, the Moncton Flight College, the Atlantic Lottery Corporation, the Canada East Air Cargo Gateway, and the New Brunswick Aerospace and Defence Association. He is also a member of the Dieppe Rotary Club. Mr. Melanson and his wife, Lise Babin, have two children, Émilie and Simon. They live in Dieppe. . Denise Frenette CFO - Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency Denise Frenette joined the Public Service of Canada in 1988, working with the Office of the Auditor General in Ottawa. She moved home to New Brunswick in 1992 and worked for a private sector insurance company for five years, primarily in the field of finance. She returned to the public service in 1998, when she accepted a position as a program delivery officer in ACOA’s New Brunswick regional office. She has held a variety of positions with the Agency since then, including that of Innovation Officer and Director, Innovation. She became Director General, Finance and Administration in 2006 and assumed the position of VicePresident, Finance and Corporate Services in August 2009. Ms. Frenette was on assignment as Acting Vice-President, New Brunswick from May to October 2013 and has now returned to her substantive position as Vice-President, Finance and Corporate Services. Ms. Frenette has a degree in business administration and is a chartered accountant.
