Soft Armour
FMS is a world leader in production of Uni-Directional (UD)
fabrics. FMS soft ballistic solutions are produced from a wide
range of UD Polyethylene and UD Aramid fabrics. They are
the main components for all soft bulletproof and anti-stab
vests. FMS soft armour solutions are recommended for NIJ
levels IIA, II and IIIA, and for anti-stab protection for NIJ level 1
and 2, providing protection against fragments, handgun bullets
and knives. The NIJ level IIIA provides the highest protection
rating in soft body armour, minimizing blunt trauma injury.
Hard Armour
Body Armour Plates
FMS produces body armour plates made from Ultra High
Molecular Weight Polyethylene, designed to withstand both lead core and mild steel core ammunition. FMS plates comply with
NIJ 0101.04, NIJ 0101.06 and other well-known standards. FMS plates can be used either as a stand-alone or in conjunction
with NIJ level IIIA vest depending on the specific plate design. FMS plates provide NIJ level III and NIJ level III+ protection
against assault rifles. Higher protection levels and tailor made protection solutions such as NIJ level IV can be met by using
ceramic-composite insert plates. All plates feature a high multi-hit capability, providing the wearer with an outstanding degree
of safety if hit by multiple fragments or projectiles.
The body armour plates are available in a wide range of sizes and shapes from flat or single-curved to complex multi-curve
ergonomic designs for a better body shape overlaying and user comfort. FMS production capacity is up to 30,000 plates per
month.
Shield Panels
Hand-held shields are typically used by Law Enforcement
personnel like police or Special Forces. FMS makes hand
shield panels from Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene
(UHMW-PE), Uni-Directional (UD) aramid or ceramic
composites, which provide protection up to NIJ level IV.

Vehicle Armour
Vehicle Armour Panels
Composite armour for civil or military vehicles are made as flat or
3D-shaped panels. FMS panels are available in a variety of forms with
sizes up to 1600x2500 mm. FMS offers both Pressed Aramid and
pressed FAMOSTONE (UHMW-PE) panels for protection against
handgun bullets and fragments, providing up to NIJ level IIIA and EN
level BR4 protection. FMS FAMOSTONE high-pressure pressed
panels provide higher protection levels. They are used for the
protection against guns and assault rifles, providing protection up to
NIJ level III+ and EN level BR6. FMS panels can also be customized
with different finishes, such as plastic cover or rubberized coating for better protection to extreme temperatures,
diesel fuel, water, oil and severe vibrations.
Composite Armour Kits
FMS composite armour consists of ceramic strike face and polymer
backing. The ceramics used include Boron-Carbide (B4C),
Silicon-Carbide (SiC) and Alumina (Al2O3), while the backing is
made from pressed UD fabrics including FAMOSTONE (UHMW-PE)
and UD Aramid.
FMS ceramic and steel composite armour solutions offer exceptional
performance at extreme temperatures, enhanced water and chemical
resistance, fire-retardancy, low blunt trauma and long-lasting lifecycle.
The composite armour provides multi-hit protection against
high-speed and armour-piercing projectiles and withstands threats
such as NIJ level IV, EN level BR7, STANAG level 3 and higher threat
levels.
Raw Materials
FMS raw materials include Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene
(UHMW-PE) Uni-Directional (UD) fabrics and Aramid UD fabrics,
which are used in a wide spectrum of ballistic protection
applications. Such fabrics combine Polyethylene (or Aramid) fibers in
a thermoplastic matrix that is capable of absorbing and dispersing
high impact energy. Each fabric layer consists of fiber tapes
cross-plied at 0°/90°.
All panels are produced in compliance with NIJ 0101.04 / 06 for personnel armour, and NIJ 0108.01,
EN 1063 and STANAG 4569 standards for vehicle armour.
