Belford to St. Cuthbert’s Cave; a picturesque walk to
St Cuthbert’s Cave - the cave where the monks of
Lindisfarne are said to have brought the body of St
Cuthbert in 875AD as they fled from the Viking raids on
Lindisfarne.
Burnmouth to St. Abbs Head; this is a spectacular
walk on the Scottish Coast. High cliffs along a dramatic
coastline make this an excellent walk. St. Abbs is a
renowned National Nature Reserve and it’s a wonderful
place to discover and explore. We catch a bus back to
our start point in Burnmouth.
Bamburgh to Budle Bay; a lovely coast walk with
fabulous views across Budle Bay, the Farne Islands and
Bamburgh Castle.
Yeavering Bell, Easter and Wester Tor; Three hills in
one day on a spectacular walk in the northern Cheviots.
Expect to see red grouse, wild goats and a great Iron Age
hill fort on this our best hill walking day.
The Ingram Valley and Linhope Spout; one of the
National Park’s loveliest valleys and its most spectacular
waterfall are visited on this walk.
The Simonside Hills, Rothbury; a great ridge walk
including one of the best prehistoric sites in
Northumberland at Lordenshaw.
Eglingham and Bewick Moor; we follow moorland
paths to Blawearie Farm, a deserted and romantic ruin
high up on the moor. Prehistoric monuments abound and
it’s a great walk to see birds of prey.
The Pennine Way from Kirk Yetholm to The Schil;
The Pennine Way is 50 years old in 2015 and the
northern section is as good as it gets. We follow the high
path south to The Schil and then take the easier low path
back to our starting point in Kirk Yetholm.
At Footsteps, we deliver the Hill Skills training course in
Northumberland. If you are new to hill walking and want
to develop the skills and knowledge needed to get you
