I. Code to the Future: Beginner 9:00 a.m.-noon

MineScratch Summer Camp – Adventures in Minecraft-themed Computer Programming with Scratch:
Come and learn how to speak the language of computers! Campers will dive into the exciting world of computer
programming through a block-based programming tool called “Scratch” that makes it simple for anyone to learn
programming! With Scratch, the possibilities to create are endless! Throughout the camp, new programmers
create Minecraft-themed projects like an “epic battle game” or a “choose your own adventure story!” Check out

Open to students ages 7-12 years old

Minimum of 12 students and maximum of 24 (approximate ratio of one instructor to fifteen participants)

Format/Schedule of program: One week, Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. – noon

Fee: $150

Instructor: David Phillips from the American Chess Institute and also a Harvard Law School student

Expected Participant outcome: an increased knowledge and understanding of computer language and coding,
allowing students to become more advanced in their critical and creative thinking skills. They will also improve
their ability to collaborate and communicate with others through paired programming.
II. Code to the Future: Intermediate/Advanced 1:00-4:00 p.m.

Minecraft Modding Summer Camp: Why just play Minecraft when you can create Minecraft? In this camp
designed for quick learners or those with some coding experience, campers will immerse themselves in the
language of computers through Minecraft! Using Java, a professional text-based coding language, campers will
learn to create Minecraft mods like “craft a sword out of mushy bananas” or “spawn a flying golden cow!” This
camp helps kids to make the full transition from players to creators and open up a whole new world of Minecraft!

Open to students ages 9-14 years old

Minimum of 10 students and maximum of 12 (ratio of one instructor to twelve participants)

Format/Schedule of program: One week, Monday-Friday, 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Fee: $200

Instructor: David Phillips from the American Chess Institute and also a Harvard Law School student

Expected participant outcome: an increased knowledge and understanding of computer language and coding,
allowing students to become more advanced in their critical and creative thinking skills. They will learn the real
professional computer language, Java, which will allow them to modify and change things within Minecraft, and
encourage them to become future programmers.

PARENTAL CONSENT, RELEASE FROM LIABILITY AND INDEMNITY
AGREEMENT
This is a legal document which, if signed, will have the effect of rendering you and your child unable
to bring any type of action against the Town of Foxborough, the Foxborough School Committee, or
any of its agents, because of any harm you or your minor child may suffer as a result of his/her
participation in any voluntary program of the Foxborough Public Schools.

Schools, and hereby forever RELEASE, discharge, and covenant to hold harmless the Town of Foxborough

agents, employees, insurers, attorneys, servants, affiliates, and their successors and assigns, from any and all
manner of actions and causes of action, agreements, judgments, settlements, damages, claims, and demands
whatsoever, known or unknown, at law or in equity, on account of, or in any way growing out of, directly or
indirectly, all known and unknown personal injuries or property damage which I may now or hereafter have as
the parent of said minor, and also all manner of actions and causes of action, agreements, judgments,
settlements, damages, claims, and demands whatsoever, known or unknown, at law or in equity, which said
minor has or hereafter may acquire, either before or after he/she has reached his/her majority, resulting from
his/her participation in any voluntary programs of the Foxborough Public Schools.
I acknowledge that I enter into this Agreement after having had ample opportunity to consult with
counsel, and I do so knowingly and voluntarily, with complete understanding of the terms and the conditions
of the Agreement.
