Wildlife Watchers- on the Water Kayaking Wed & Fri 6:00PM -7:30 PM and Sun 8:00 – 9:30 AM
This 1 ½ hour guided kayak tour is a leisurely paddle through the coves of Lake Marburg to quietly witness wildlife
on the water’s edges. Eagles and osprey, waterfowl and wading birds abound. Boats, paddles, vests and
waterproof binoculars are provided. Beginners are welcome. Program cost is $15 per person (cash only please).

Library Along Lake Marburg Thurs 10:00 – 11:00 AM (June 11 through Aug 27 ) Classroom: Marina Rd
Join the Codorus State Park Environmental Education Specialist and the Children’s Librarian of Guthrie Memorial
library for a FREE weekly program featuring a wildlife book reading at the classroom (on Marina Road) at Codorus
State Park. Related crafts, game or a visit from live native wildlife will accompany each book. Age focus K- 3rd.
Fishable Waters Thurs ( June 18) 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM Classroom (end of Marina Road)
In celebration of National Go Fishing Day join us to learn more about the importance of healthy fish populations
and participate in a card game to explore the connection between water quality, habitat, and “fishable” waters.
You may even catch a glimpse of some of nature’s most successful fisherman.
Stream Sense Thurs (June 25th ) 2:00PM – 3:00 PM Meet at MaryAnn Furnace Trailhead on Black Rock Rd
Use all of your senses to observe a stream and discover that there is more to flowing water than meets the eye.
Please wear old shoes or boots as they will likely get wet and/or muddy.
Every Tree for Itself

Campground Amphitheater
Join us at the campground amphitheater for a tree related craft. Later join us in an activity that demonstrates
what a tree needs to live and grow and how trees often compete for their needs.
Tree Cookies Sat (June 27th) 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM Campground Amphitheater
Join us at the campground amphitheater for a tree related craft. Later join us in an investigation of a “tree cookie”
to learn about a tree’s life changes in the area that it grew. Perhaps even enjoy a tasty “tree cookie” of your own.
Name that Tree Sun ( June 28th ) 11:00 AM to noon LaHo Trailhead
Join us for a tree nature walk. During this short hike learn more about trees by learning to identify various
features. Some field guides will be provided.
To Dam or Not to Dam

Learn about the history of the building of the Glatfelter Paper Company Dam and this unique partnership between
the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the Glatfelter Paper Company.
Breakfast with the Bluebirds
Fri (thru July 17th )
9:00AM -10:00 AM Visitor Center
Bring a brown bag breakfast to the visitor center for a brief program followed by a 15 minute walk to monitor
bluebird nest boxes. Bluebird and other cavity nesting species may bei seen.
Wildlife Watchers on the Water: Great Blue Pontoon Sat 6:00 – 7:30 PM & Sun 10:30 – 12:00 noon
(Memorial weekend to Labor Day) Enjoy a 1 ½ hour guided pontoon program featuring wildlife watching
opportunities. During this leisurely ride we search up to 26 miles of shoreline. We even provide binoculars!
Experienced guides and boat captains are DCNR conservation volunteers. Boat departs from the marina. Program
cost is $15 per person which must be prepaid at the time of reservation.
Free Family Fishing Sat June 20, July 4, & Aug 15 9:00 AM – noon Main Launch/ Bandshell
Discover just how much fun fishing can be when you do it together at a PA Fish and Boat Commission Family
Fishing Program. Learn basic fishing skills like knot tying, casting, baiting the hook and taking a fish off the hook.
You and your family will have the opportunity to fish. No fishing license is required. All equipment is provided.
The "catch???" Adults MUST bring a child and children must bring an adult. You'll be learning and fishing together.
Harp in the Park
Wed (June 10 &17, July 1,8,15,29 Aug 5 & 12) ) 1:00 – 2:00 PM Classroom
at the end of Marina Road. Come participate in free autoharp lessons with “The Pigeon Hills Harper” Linda Huber.

The Lyric Band Sun 7:00 PM (May 24 thru Aug 9) 6:30 PM (Aug 16 thru Sept 6) Bandshell
Join the Lyric Band of Hanover, PA and special concert guests for free Sunday evening concerts at the Main Launch
Bandshell. Bring lawn chairs. Check for updates at www.lyricband.org
Birding, Boating and Black Iron Cooking
Sun July 19th & August 17th 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM Chapel Cove
Join the “Wildlife Watchers of Codorus” guides for a special program. Learn primitive flint & steel fire starting
techniques. Prepare rustic-gourmet food in cast iron Dutch Oven cookware on the campfire. Cuisine will cook as
the guides host a wildlife watching program on the kayaks through the coves of Lake Marburg. Enjoy
complimentary breakfast feast upon program completion. All ages and abilities are invited. $20 program fee per
person must be paid at the time of reservation
Cool Critters in the Creek (and Pond) Sat 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM (June 27 to Aug 29)
Dragonfly larvae, crayfish, tadpoles, and whirligig beetles await your discovery. Compare the unique aquatic
creatures of the pond and stream at the “scout camp”. Park at the camp entrance on Blue Hill Road (look for the
yellow sign; past 7th house on right). THIS PROGRAM IS weather permitting. Wear your mud sneakers and
prepare to get wet and giggle! (Please note: there are no rest rooms at this location)
Note: Osprey are nesting on a platform at “Long Island”. Osprey are a PA Threatened species and in
need of protection. Red buoys, along with signage, have been placed around the nest site to prevent
disturbance while the pair are nesting, incubating eggs, and rearing chicks. PA Game Commission,
and the PA Fish & Boat Commission will be monitoring the nest site for disturbances. Approach inside
the buoys is considered disturbing the nest and is subject to fines up to $1000.00. PLEASE share the
resources of Lake Marburg with our native wildlife. The nest is easily viewable from the parking lot at
the end of Marina Road. Enjoy the opportunity to view this marvel of nature from a safe distance.
