A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL
Spring has arrived and students and staff are both looking forward to a two week break! Parent
teacher interviews are Thursday, March 26, 2015 3:00- 6:00 pm.
We hope parents will have the time to come out and speak with
their child’s teacher. The grade eight students have started their
new cluster rotation. We are very proud of the success of the
Ski/Board team earning a silver medal at provincials. The Senior
Girls’ Basketball team placed 13th at their provincial tournament.
Over the two week break, take time to enjoy family and friends
and find a good book to read.
Mr. C. Houghton, Principal, FSJSS
EARLY DISMISSAL- PARENT TEACHER NIGHT
Students will be dismissed at 12:00 pm on Thursday, March 26th. Busses will leave the high school shortly after
dismissal. Parents are invited to attend the Parent/Teacher night at FSJSS from 3 pm – 6 pm on March 26th. Interims will
be handed out to parents in the foyer. Teachers will be in their classrooms for interviews.
STAFF PARKING LOT
Just a quick reminder to all parents: Due to the high volume of traffic in the staff parking lot please do not pick up or
drop off students in this area. Please use the designated student drop off zone in front of the school or in the rear
parking lot. Thank you for your help in this matter.

FAMILIES WISHING TO APPLY AT A NON-ATTENDANCE AREA SCHOOL
If you have a student already in a District school and you want to apply to have them attend a school that is not your
designated catchment area school you can do so by making application at the school you wish to attend. The
application window will be from Monday, March 23, 2015 until Friday May 15, 2015 during normal office hours.
COUNSELLING NEWS
Mrs. Stainton held course selection information sessions last week. During these sessions she briefly reviewed
the graduation requirements, talked about core and elective courses, and explained how students can enter
their course selections on paper forms. Mrs. Stainton hopes to have all the course selections in by spring
break. We hope to have the first draft of student schedules to them by the first week of June. Students will
then have an opportunity to make changes during the first two weeks of June. Any students needing further
assistance or information about course selections, please see Mrs. Stainton.
The course selection booklets, containing course descriptions, are now accessible as a quick link on the school
website.
Local scholarships and bursaries are due April 30. A booklet of all the local scholarships and bursaries are also
accessible as a quick link on the school website.
Check post- secondary school application deadlines as they are usually in Feb-April.
