2015 TREE SALE - ORDER FORM
PICK-UP DATE: April 17, 2015
TIME: 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
LOCATION: 610 E. North Street
A check made payable to the Fulton County Conservation District must accompany all orders. Add 6% sales tax, unless you have a sales tax
exemption form on file with the District. Deadline for all orders is March 20th, 2015. Pick-up will be on Friday, April 17th, at the front warehouse located at 610 E. North Street, McConnellsburg (next to the Amer ican Legion).
The Conservation District will not be responsible for orders picked up after April 17th, unless previous arrangements have been made. No refunds
will be given for unclaimed orders. You will r eceive a sales receipt with an itemized list of your order and pick-up information as a reminder.
Please take a moment to review your sales receipt. Profits from the tree sale are used to support environmental education efforts within
Fulton County. All plant material is bare root, and therefore, we cannot guarantee survival once you take possession.
Please choose your selections and mail the order form back to the Conservation District with your check or money order for the full amount. If you

APPLES:
The following are on dwarfing rootstock, but are also combined with rootstock that gives tree more strength - EMLA26.
Pristine
Liberty
Glossy, yellow-skinned fruit with high sugar content. Excellent for fresh eating, baking, and sauce.
Most disease-resistant apple ever developed. Crisp, juicy, light-yellow flesh. Sprightly flavor. Good for eating fresh, cooking,
canning, or desserts.
Yellow-fleshed fruit with mildly sub-acid flavor. Flavor is a nice acidic blend of tart and sweet.

APPLES:
The following are semi-dwarf on EMLA111 rootstock. Trees are 5/8”-3/4” diameter bare root. NOTE: All
apples should be cross-pollinated with another apple or crabapple variety that blooms at a similar time.

Medium to large, round, flattened glossy, light orange-red fruit. Firm, crunchy, rich, sweet, mild flesh is nonstringent when firm-ripe.

Also known as “sugar pear”. Small pear, but one of best quality desert pears. Tree vigorous, hardy, and productive.
Self-fertile, but benefits from cross pollination.

Round, medium to large, yellow fruit with little or no russet. Crisp, creamy white flesh; mild, sweet flavor. Hangs on tree in

White seedless. Large clusters of large berries with rich fruity flavor. High sugar, low acid. High yields. Excellent as a table
grape. Self-fertile.
Red seedless. Large, well-filled clusters. Outstanding, mild, fruity flavor. Perhaps the finest quality of any
seedless grape.
Excellent, distinctive flavor. Seedless variety. Slightly smaller clusters and berries than regular Concord. Better and sweeter
table grape. Highly regarded as a pie grape.
Male plants (no energy goes to seed production). Vigorous growth. Produces heavy yields of large spears. Will out produce
older varieties.
NUT TREES:
English Walnut
Handsome, hardy, rounded shade tree that produces delicious edible nuts. Produces nuts quicker than other walnuts. Nuts
meaty, thin-shelled. Self-pollinating, but produces better in groups of two to three. Does not do well in wet areas!
Chinese Chestnut Hardy, blight-resistant. Fast-growing, bears nuts larger than Am. Chestnut. Plant two or more for pollination.

Fast growing. Can tolerate dry rocky soil as well as wet, swampy areas. Ideal for specimen planting, shade, windbreaks, and
Christmas trees. Can tolerate some shade.
Native tree, grows to 60’, does well in extremely dry soils. Good wildlife tree. Produces edible fruit in the Fall.
Grows best in sandy to rich loamy soil in full sun, but tolerates wide range of conditions. Fastest growing of all oaks.
Valuable timber tree. Prefers full sun.
Red Chokeberry A distinctly upright, multi-stemmed deciduous shrub. Bright white flowers in May, brilliant red berries in Fall. The open,
somewhat vase shaped form grows to a height of 6-10’ and spreads 3-5’ or more. Adapts well to wet or dry soil conditions.
Paw Paw
Known as “the banana of the north”. Grows 15-20’, this beautiful native tree does well in moist to well-drained soils, in shade
or sun. Tends to form thickets (very tropical looking). Produces an edible fruit in Fall.
Norway Spruce Thrives well in average soil conditions, but prefers some moisture. Excellent for shelters and windbreaks. Fast growth.
Spreading branches with drooping twigs. Full sun to partial shade.
Blue Spruce
(Majestic) These are “bed run”, so color ranges from greens to blues. Color in Blue Spruce influenced by spacing and soil
fertility.
White Oak
PA native oak. Grows 50-80’ in height. Grows best in deep, loamy, well-drained soil.
Red Maple
Handsome native tree growing 50-60’. Leaves turn crimson in Fall. Grows well in all soil types. Rather shade tolerant.
White Spruce
Long-lived, but relatively slow growing, can reach 60’ tall. Excellent for windbreaks and shelterbelts. Dense pyramidal growth
and retains lower branches. Does well in full sun, but will tolerate some shade. Can endure heat and drought. Resistant to deer
browsing.
Black Oak
Hardy native species. Grows to 50-70’. Leaves similar to Northern Red Oak. Leaves retained through winter.
Black Locust
Native hardwood growing to 75’. Open green foliage with pea-like white flowers in June. Tolerates poor, sterile, and dry soils.
Nitrogen fixer. Good firewood and used for fence posts.
American
Hardy native shrub that grows 6-12’ high and can spread to 10’. Green foliage with numerous large clusters of white flowers
Elderberry
in June/July, followed by purplish-black edible fruits in August and September. Important food source for birds. Grow well in
full and partial sun. Good choice for riparian buffers.
Chinkapin Oak Does well in extremely dry sites. Acorns good wildlife food source. Similar in appearance to Chestnut Oak.
Am Redbud
Small understory tree that produces beautiful pink/purple blooms on bare stems in early spring.
LANDSCAPING TREES:
Eastern Hemlock Graceful pyramidal form . Likes moist, organic, well-drained soil and tolerates shade well. Can stand shearing and moderate
pruning and thus makes a good hedge. Makes a handsome, graceful, ornamental planting.
Pin Oak
Fast growth to 75’ in good soil. Acorns good wildlife food. Makes an excellent specimen as a lawn tree. Prefers moist, rich,
acidic well drained soil.

White Dogwood
Also known as flowering dogwood. Native understory tree with excellent aesthetic qualities. In Spring it is covered with white
flower petals and in early Fall with red berries and beautiful crimson leaves. Grows to max. of 40’.
Handsome tree for shade. Mature trees produce sap which is used to make maple syrup. Also known as “hard maple”- wood
used for floors and furniture.
