IB Middle Years classes are now available at both the entry level and the advanced (honors) level in all
subject areas. A strong AVID program is in place to support college-bound students requiring
additional skill building in order to gain academic momentum and skills. For those students interested
in pursuing the IB Diploma Program in grades 11 and 12, or Advanced Placement classes, we still
recommend a full honors schedule beginning the freshmen year. These students are advised to
demonstrate their readiness for advanced studies by submitting the following evidence:
 Above average test scores
 Positive recommendations from English and Math teachers as well as a teacher of choice
 Algebra in 8th grade and being Geometry Honors ready in 9th
 7th grade CSAP scores being Proficient and above
 Personal motivation and interest to succeed academically
Please feel free to contact the following people with specific questions as needed:
 Sally Kelly, IB Secretary at 328-5073
 Carolyn Derr, IBMYP Coordinator (grades 9 and 10) at 328-5075
 Steve Kern, IB Coordinator ( grades 11 and 12) at 328-5078
 Dawn Boden, Counseling Department Chair at 328-5008
