Distinguished Service Award
Donald Sherline, MD
Donald M. Sherline, MD, served as Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at
Georgia Regents University from 1982-1995. He served as President of the Association of Professors
of Gynecology and Obstetrics, an organization composed of all academic obstetrics and gynecology
departments in the United States and Canada. Before joining MCG in 1982, Sherline was Director
of Maternal and Fetal Medicine and Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Rush-PresbyterianSt. Luke’s Medical Center in Rush Medical College. He also served as Acting Chairman of the
Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine.
Sherline, a cum laude graduate of Utica College of Syracuse University, received his medical degree
from Northwestern University and did postdoctoral study in obstetrical anesthesia at Case Western Reserve University. He
was an examiner of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a consultant to the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He also received the Alumni Achievement Award of Utica College.
