BORDERLINES
Notes from our County Commissioner, Claire Worth April 2015
The last few weeks have involved a variety of fundraisers to support our members travelling overseas
this year. Holmes Chapel held a very successful Dinner Dance at Cranage Hall, the Nepal group have
been holding quizzes at various venues across the County and lots more activities are still being
planned from Indian meals to Alsager’s Ceili Evening. Thank you to all the organisers of these events as
well as those attending, I know all the girls and Leaders are very grateful for the support that they
receive across the County.
We have just held our international selection weekend for the trips planned for 2016, 15 girls really did
face their fears (along with some of the Leaders) when some surprise visitors arrived for one of the
sessions including Teddy the Tarantula, various snakes and other creatures.
Best wishes to everyone for a very Happy Easter.
Thanks and Welcome
Holly Fowlkes has now moved out of County, thank you Holly for all the work you have done in Jodrell
District and most recently for all your help and support as Capesthorne Division Commissioner.
Brownies go Harry Potter mad!
2nd Crosstown Brownies, Knutsford recently spent the weekend going ‘Harry Potter’ mad at the
Children’s Inn Rowarth, a converted coaching inn managed by Girlguiding Stockport.
Photos and a full report are on our website.
Please note the venue has changed and is not the one originally announced.

IMPORTANT - for all new Leaders and Mentors working on the Leadership Qualification
As of now, no Leadership Qualification will be complete without evidence of the new Leader having
attended a Girlguiding Safe Space (Safeguarding) Training session. Please do not send LQ files to the
coordinator to be verified until this requirement is met. There will be appropriate training sessions
within our County in the very near future – please look out for dates on our website and in minutes
from County, Division and District meetings. Booking will be essential as we expect large numbers and
each session will be number-limited.
The latest Safeguarding e-learning modules are now available on the GG website.
Please note that for Leaders in Training on the LQ, a face-to-face Safeguarding training is required.
The Trilogy’s Complete
Elizabeth Horrocks, a Senior Section Leader in Alderely Edge, has just published ‘New
Found Land’ which is the final book in the Edge of Doom Trilogy. These books are based
around the legends of King Arthur. New Found Land picks up the story five years on
with Lance, Ellie and Will happily farming in Cheshire. However, the action soon moves
to Sarras (Ireland).
The first two books are titled ‘The Edge of Doom’ and ‘The Dark Space’. All are available on Amazon. Liz has also written ‘Ministering Angel’

Northwich, CW9 6NA starting at the Car Park .
Admission £8 to the Gardens. ( RHS members are FREE.)
Trefoil members and friends are welcome to join us for the walk/
lunch in the Tudor Barn at 1 pm.
Monday 11 May walk will begin at 10.30 am from the Car Park of
the Boddington Arms, Racecourse Road, Wilmslow SK9 5LR.
Lunch will be afterwards in the Boddington Arms.

original loan to the Fiver Bank. Full details on the website
