Starting on the 7th November the new Cello Club will be honing their skills on their instrument whilst gaining valuable experience playing as an ensemble. Not to mention meeting new friends and getting the chance to perform in concerts! GM HUB WOODWIND DAY th BBC Ten Pieces: Are you involved yet? It will be led by members of the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, and will take place in their studio at MediaCity UK. The day will take the format of a workshop ending with a concert for parents. As happened with the Brass Band Day, last year, it is hoped that the Woodwind Day will lead to the formation of a Hub Symphonic Wind Band, drawing players from across Greater Manchester. Monday evening has seen the introduction of the new Beginner Guitar Group with Mr. Conyard. Players have the opportunity to play some of their favourite tunes and explore different styles of pop, rock jazz and classical guitar music. Since September the group has been working really hard on their pieces and will be starting to look at chords this half term. Over 60 singers from Stockport Junior Voices had the opportunity of a lifetime on 11th November 2014, when they travelled to London to take part in the Schools’ Prom at the Royal Albert Hall. They joined a 550 strong choir, made up of young singers from the Greater Manchester Music Hub, to perform a specially commissioned work by Ed Puddick with the GM Jazz Orchestra.
