ART
BASIC DRAWING
TECHNIQUES
Have you ever wished you could learn to
draw? You can! This program, designed
for people with little or no experience, will
enhance your creativity and artistic confidence. Participants will discover
that drawing is not based simply on “natural talent.” It is a learnable skill.
You will learn to let go of preconceived (left brain) blocks and gain an
understanding of the drawing skills you will need in order to draw what you
see. Basic shapes and faces and various pencil techniques will be introduced.
Isn’t it time you turn your desire to express yourself through art into a
reality? There will be a materials fee of approximately $20. Materials list
will be discussed at the first meeting.

Presenter: Patrick Gagne – Is a local free-lance illustrator and cartoonist with over
twenty years of experience. He has been an art instructor for over ten years and is
currently an adjunct instructor at GWC.
THAI FRUIT & VEGETABLE
CARVING, BEGINNING
Asian Fruit Carving has been integrated into
the food presentations of the top chefs in
the finest restaurants around the world. It is
edible and also adds an aesthetic, elegant
beauty to any food arrangement. In this
beginning workshop you will learn:

How to properly use the hand tools
needed for fruit and vegetable carving.
•
How to pick the best fruits and
vegetables for carving.
• Introduction to the basic Asian art used in vegetable and fruit carving.
• How to create flowers from radishes and cucumbers in varying
degrees of difficulty.
• How to preserve and set up the arrangements.
Don’t miss this opportunity to begin learning the basic skills that will lead to
the more advanced creation of bouquets and centerpieces from fruits and
vegetables. A $35 material fee for a 7-piece tool kit is payable at the first
meeting. Vegetables will be provided for the first meeting.

AIRBRUSH MAKEUP
Prerequisite: Cosmetology/Esthetics
Student or Licensed Cosmetologist
This program is designed to teach the
art of airbrush makeup. We will focus on
bridal and evening makeup. Participants
will learn basic to advanced techniques
and will be able to successfully apply
airbrush evening makeup at the
completion of the program. Attendance
to a mandatory orientation is required.

BARTENDING THE EASY WAY
(Ages 18 and older)
Learn the newest up-to-date techniques in the world of bartending from a
master bartender. This quick and easy workshop will prepare you to work
as a bartender in all types of establishments, while also teaching you the
business side of the beverage industry. Professional bartending requires so
much more than knowing cocktail recipes. You will be taught in detail how to
practice making cocktails on your own. Other topics included are glassware,
tools, recipes, pouring the perfect shot using the “tail,” bar terms, liquor,
wine and champagne service, martinis, high-volume sales techniques, laws,
responsible beverage service, getting the best jobs, resumes, nailing the
interview, alternative occupations in the beverage industry and how to start
your own bartending service. This workshop will teach you what managers
want. In addition to class lectures, tests and activities, you will be given an
online test and homework assignments. Liquor is not used in workshop. Upon
completion of this workshop, you will receive a Professional Certificate of
Bartending. Those who score 90% or above on the quizzes may also test
for the Master’s Certificate of Excellence. This workshop also includes
additional testing for “Serving Alcohol Responsibly,” with certification for
those who pass. A $50 to $60 material fee (cash only) is payable at the
first meeting.

Become a Notary Public - Includes 2014 laws
Establish yourself as a Notary Public, earn additional income and provide
a service to your community. It’s not just a clerk’s job anymore. Successful
notaries provide a valuable service to their company, friends and private
clients. Ambitious Notaries gain the skills it takes to become a Loan Signing
Agent making $200 to $400 per signing. Our six-hour state approved
seminar gives you the knowledge to pass the exam and practice as an
effective Notary. You’ll receive two practice tests and you’ll take the official
Notary exam directly following the seminar. A $30 material fee for the
Notary Public Sourcebook is payable to Notary Public Seminars at the

Notary Public Exam
Requirements: Legal resident of California (Military excluded), Age 18+
The Official California State Notary Public Exam will be administered
immediately following the preparation workshop for those who wish to
take it at that time. Participants must present Certificate of Completion
from Notary Public Seminars in order to take the exam. Your test result
will be mailed to you two weeks after you take the exam. Livescan finger
prints required after you pass the exam. Applicants can be denied
certification based on their criminal record. Cooperative Personnel
Services will register you for the exam on the day of the seminar between
4 - 4:30 pm. The exam will be from 4:45 - 6 pm. To take the exam you must
bring:
• a check, money order, or cashier’s check made payable to the
Secretary of State for $40 (new applicants and renewals)
• Valid ID (one of the following) - driver’s license or state DMV I.D.;
Canadian or Mexican driver’s license; U.S. passport or passport issued
by a foreign government; U.S. Military I.D. card

•Discount prices on specified events, seminars,
workshops, etc., that are planned for seniors.
• Reduced rates on services in Cosmetology of Golden
West College (Tuesdays through Fridays).
Gold Key Cards are not replaceable if lost. Purchase Gold

Registration Information: All registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
Please review the following information prior to filling out the registration form.

No refunds after printed refund deadline date. There will be a $10 processing
