OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY EXTENSION Assuring Quality Care of Animal Clinic Saturday June 6th at the Hancock County Fairgrounds Purpose: provide horse and livestock exhibitors hands on opportunities to learn animal care and handling. The clinic meets Quality Assurance requirement for exhibitors. Horse Clinic – 8:30 a.m. registration at the bell tower (horses welcome) 9:00 a.m. Session 1 – basics and equipment safety 10:30 a.m. break to tack horses 10:45 a.m. Time Run 1 for Barrels and Poles (non contesters are welcome and encouraged). Followed by lunch break and Demonstrations of: - New class: Ranch Horse Pleasure - Equine Chiropractic Followed by Hands on practice and coaching for barrels and poles - Beginning and advance levels for barrels and poles - Second practice for the alternative class Followed by the second timed run 3:00 p.m. Closing Remarks and Awards (fastest, most approved, etc.) Livestock Clinics All 4-H and FFA members are welcome to attend the clinics to learn handling, care, get showmanship questions answered, what to bring to the fair and much more. This will be hands on! There will be door prizes given throughout the day for youth members. Members who need Quality Assurance training must one of the general Quality Assurance sessions during the day and at a minimum one of the livestock sessions. 8:30 a.m. General QA session 1 – Mini Park 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Sheep Clinic (part one of lamb camp) in the Show Arena 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Poultry Clinic in the Legacy Building 10:00 a.m. to noon Goat Clinic – Goat Barn 10:00 a.m. General QA session 2 – Mini Park 10:00 a.m. to noon Rabbit Clinic – Legacy Building Round 1 - Bringing your rabbit is encouraged. 10:30 to noon Beef Clinic - Buckeye Building 10:30 to noon Dairy Clinic – Buckeye Building 11:00 to noon Swine Clinic – Show Arena or Swine Barn Noon – General QA Session 3 – Mini Park Noon to 2:00 p.m. Rabbit Clinic Legacy Building Round 2 (repeat of Round 1) - Bringing your rabbit is encouraged. First Year members who need Sportsmanship – it will be covered in the general QA sessions during the day.
