O Lord! My God! Early did I seek Thee out, my soul for Thee was thirsting, Lord, it longed for thee
in a land of draught! O Thou didst lead me by the hand who languished in a barren land! Thy mercy,
I sing with joy devout! Alleluia! O Thou, dear Lord, Thou art my shepherd, Thy mercy doth my soul
restore; Thy rod and staff they are my comfort, my cup of joy behold it runneth o’er! Beside the
waters still me leading, in pastures green Thou bad’st me live, My soul exalts Thee, my voice shall rise,
Thy mercy praising to the sky: Alleluia!

Festival Holy Eucharist at 10:30 am
Children are welcome in all of our worship services. But if they wish, they are invited to line up for the procession at the back
of the church just before 10:30 am (look for the children’s cross), or they can join the other children in procession as they are
passing by your pew. They are led into the Children’s Chapel for a simple service with child-friendly teaching. The children then
return to their families in the church at the Peace where they can participate in the rest of the service together.
All may stand.

The Collect of the Day
Priest The Lord be with you.
People And also with you.
Priest Let us pray.
Almighty God, who through your only-begotten Son Jesus Christ overcame
death and opened to us the gate of everlasting life: Grant that we, who
celebrate with joy the day of the Lord’s resurrection, may be raised from the
death of sin by your life-giving Spirit; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who
lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.
People Amen.
All may sit.
The First Lesson
Isaiah 25:6–9
On this mountain the LORD of hosts will make for all peoples a feast of rich food, a feast of well-aged
wines, of rich food filled with marrow, of well-aged wines strained clear. And he will destroy on this
mountain the shroud that is cast over all peoples, the sheet that is spread over all nations; he will swallow up
death forever. Then the Lord GOD will wipe away the tears from all faces, and the disgrace of his people he
will take away from all the earth, for the LORD has spoken. It will be said on that day, Lo, this is our God; we
have waited for him, so that he might save us. This is the LORD for whom we have waited; let us be glad and
rejoice in his salvation.
Lector The Word of the Lord.
People Thanks be to God.
—3—
Gradual Anthem
Sung by the Choir
Larry King
(1932–1990)
Salve Festa Dies! On this day the Lord has acted, we will rejoice and be glad in
it! Alleluia! Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth,
wisdom and might, honor and glory and blessing. To Him who sits on the
throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever
and ever. Alleluia!
The Second Lesson
1 Corinthians 15:1–11
I would remind you, brothers and sisters, of the good news that I proclaimed to you, which you in turn
received, in which also you stand, through which also you are being saved, if you hold firmly to the message
that I proclaimed to you--unless you have come to believe in vain. For I handed on to you as of first
importance what I in turn had received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the scriptures, and
that he was buried, and that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the scriptures, and that he
appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers and sisters at
one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have died. Then he appeared to James, then to all the
apostles. Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me. For I am the least of the apostles,
unfit to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. But by the grace of God I am what I
am, and his grace toward me has not been in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them-though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me. Whether then it was I or they, so we proclaim and
so you have come to believe.
Lector The Word of the Lord.
People Thanks be to God.
All may stand.
The Sequence Hymn
Sung by all
Words: Latin, 1695; tr. Francis Pott (1832–1909), alt.
Music: Victory, Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina (?1525–1594); adapt. and arr. Wm. Henry Monk (1823–1889)
Brass: arr. Bruce Saylor (b. 1946)

The Gospel
Mark 16:1–8
Gospeler The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, according to Mark.
People Glory to you, Lord Christ.
When the sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, so
that they might go and anoint Jesus. And very early on the first day of the week, when the sun had risen,
they went to the tomb. They had been saying to one another, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the
entrance to the tomb?” When they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had already
been rolled back. As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man, dressed in a white robe, sitting on the
right side; and they were alarmed. But he said to them, “Do not be alarmed; you are looking for Jesus of
Nazareth, who was crucified. He has been raised; he is not here. Look, there is the place they laid him. But
go, tell his disciples and Peter that he is going ahead of you to Galilee; there you will see him, just as he told
you.” So they went out and fled from the tomb, for terror and amazement had seized them; and they said
nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.

The Holy Communion
At the Offertory, Anthem
Will C. Macfarlane (1870–1945)
arr. Bruce Saylor (b. 1946)
Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us, therefore let us keep the feast, not with
old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the
unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. Christ being raised from the dead dieth
no more; death hath no more dominion over him. For in that he died, he died
unto sin once; but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. Likewise reckon ye also
yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ
our Lord. Christ is risen from the dead, and become the first fruits of them that
slept. For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the
dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. Alleluia.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the
beginning, is now, and ever shall be: World without end. Amen.
All may stand.
At the Presentation, Hymn

Celebrant We give thanks to you, O God, … Therefore, according to his command, O Father,
People We remember his death,
we proclaim his resurrection,
we await his coming in glory.
Celebrant And we offer our sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving ... all honor and glory is yours,
Almighty Father, now and for ever.

The Lord’s Prayer
Celebrant And now, as our Savior Christ has taught us, we are bold to say,
All Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come,
thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the
kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.
The Breaking of the Bread
The Celebrant breaks the consecrated Bread. A period of silence is kept.
The Choir sings the Alleluias, then all repeat.
Choir Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: therefore let us keep the feast.
All Repeat Alleluias
—8—
The Communion of the People
All who seek God, and are drawn to Jesus Christ, are welcome to receive the bread and wine at Christ’s table. Those who do
not wish to receive may come forward for a blessing, indicated by crossing your arms over your chest. During Communion,
