Executive Director, Helps Education Fund
The Helps Education Fund seeks a leader to provide overall vision, leadership, and management of this
growing and award-winning non-profit organization. In this full-time position, the Executive Director will oversee
all executive functions of the organization, including implementing a strategic plan and developing related
goals, metrics and strategies; driving private and public fundraising; fostering board relations; managing
staff; implementing programs; supervising operations; providing fiduciary oversight; and serving as the

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION
The Helps Education Fund is dedicated to supporting educators and improving learning outcomes for students
locally, nationally, and internationally. This is achieved by offering educators free and low-cost programs and
services that are supported by rigorous research to be effective. Although only its fourth year, the Helps
Education Fund has already received numerous state and national awards for its innovation, collaboration, and
impact. Examples of impact include:
 More than $500,000 in donated materials and services.
 More than 30,000 educators (across more than 40 countries) using Helps Ed Fund programs.
 Hundreds of educators using the Helps Education Fund’s free professional development materials in
order to train educators and parents in their own schools and communities.
 Numerous scholarly/research publications (professional books and journal articles) documenting the
effectiveness of, and need for, Helps Ed Fund programs.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The new Executive Director (ED) is responsible for the Helps Education Fund’s overall vision, leadership, and
management. Working with a committed and engaged Board of Directors, he or she will develop and execute
the strategic direction of this dynamic and growing organization, allowing the Helps Education Fund to maintain
and expand its current level of excellence. The ED will oversee all executive functions of the organization,
including implementing a strategic plan and developing related goals, metrics, and strategies; driving private
and public fundraising (including but not limited to grant writing); fostering board relations; managing staff;
implementing programs; supervising facilities and operations; providing fiduciary oversight; and serving as the
principal spokesperson for the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning and Vision
 Assure that the Helps Education Fund is adhering to its mission, vision, values and goals to improve
student learning through supporting educators (including parents).
 Set forth an organizational vision and lead the implementation of a robust and refined strategic plan for the
Helps Education Fund in collaboration with the Board of Directors and staff.
 Assure that the Helps Education Fund has a short- and long-range strategy to advance its mission and
continue program excellence and development.
 Assure that the Helps Education Fund is in compliance with government and donor policies and regulations
including insurance, audits, non-profit compliance, reports, permits, registration requirements, and
appropriate licensing.
Fundraising and Community Affairs
 Drive and actively participate in private and public fundraising efforts, including grant writing.
 Personally cultivate and solicit major gifts, including public funding.
 Ensure strong and effective relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, academic
institutions, and community based organizations, general public, and other external partners.
 Serve as the chief representative, spokesperson and public face of the Helps Education Fund to a wide
variety of audiences.
Board Relations and Governance
 Engage and collaborate with the Board in all organizational planning, financial/resource development and
governance responsibilities.
 Work with and build the Board of Directors to maintain a strong, diverse and motivated Board.
 Assure open and consistent communication, and provide accurate, timely and relevant information to the
Board.
Financial Management and Oversight
 Provide fiscally sound management of the organization and fiduciary oversight.
 Work with the Board to ensure that financial resources are available to support short- and long-term
programmatic and fundraising goals.
Operations and Management
 Develop and manage the overall direction of the organization’s day-to-day activities, operations and
services, including the direct supervision of staff.
 Drive programmatic operations and expansion by monitoring trends in the field, assessing the Helps
Education Fund’s outcomes, and collaborating with the Board, staff and those served by the organization.
 Promote a collaborative, high-performing organizational culture that fosters passion for the mission, high
program quality, teamwork, and a sense of shared purpose.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Professional Experience should include many if not each of the following:
 An understanding of the trends, public policies, research, and key initiatives within education and
support for educators.
 Significant leadership, management, and operational experience of a relevant size and scope.
 Demonstrated experience leading fundraising activities, donor cultivation, and grant writing from both
public and private sources.
 Excellent communication and professional presentation skills.

EDUCATION:
Master’s degree required with at least 3 years of relevant leadership experience; advanced degree a plus.
